as with any animal bred for conformity to a breed-type that disregards the wellbeing of the animal ...... this bothers me

some genetic defects are random and inevitable but it seems to me unkind to invite problems for the animal in later life by deliberately breeding for characteristics that can perpetuate these

Manx Syndrome is a normally fatal defect caused by the so-called Manx gene, which causes the taillessness. The gene's action in shortening the spine may go too far, resulting in severe spinal defects--a gap in the last few vertebrae, fused vertebrae, or spina bifida in newborns. Its okay.. Mum didn't know either til she had brought our kitten Nelly home and had to rush it off to the vet... Its really quite sad...

Sigh. it looks like we've acquired another one too. It's been hanging around intermittently for the last month, scrawny and desparate, pinching food when it could. Now it seems to have taken up permanent residence in the backyard.

Don't really want another one, but what can y' do? I couldn't bear to let a creature starve.

My dad has 5 cats... had like 9 at one stage!
Yet I am still begging to get one where I am!!

Yeah just means I can't get a puppy now... Decided on one more pet.. It was gonna be a puppy for me.. But.. Now I have another cat..!!!

9 is alot.. I gotta stop somewhere.. Time to draw the line.. Though I think I said that last time...

5 of them were kittens (2 different sets). But now he just has the five I think! And people wonder where I get it from!!
