I'll second that - the actually procedure is a piece of cake.

A post-op infection is slightly different, if that happens you'll need a wheelbarrow to get around.....

Well the shop opened it up today and found metal filings in the bottom of the sump and in the oil filter... He said its done the big end bearing in the no.3 cylinder rod...
    See my thread about it...
I'm seriously considering collecting a pile of parts (i already have most of a pile) and trying to do it myself... what can i loose?
Welcome to suggestions.. just gotta find a mentor or something I guess... and some tools.

    poohs bum and wees

The other option is just get a new enging from a wrecker maybe or just buy a new bike... though the amount you have already spent you probably want keep it and get it going again...

doing it your self would be cheaper but have you got the tools? (while you are there might as well redo the fairing) restore the bike but depends on how much you want to spend on a bike you may or may not keep when you get your full

Yeah.. but thats going to be looking round the 600-1000 mark isn't it? + some 2-3 hours to put it in so says the shop.

Well its an idea at the moment which is just running round my mind... If I could get my hands on the tools and expertise required then i'd do it... then prob sell (or race?) the zxr...

And planning a raro trip shortly so will probably just get another bike...

depends... shop about... do a search on tradme. Once you got the engine and most tools would be to hard to put in yourself (though it would take you more than the shops 2 or 3 hours )

you might see me on more rides, or at least a red blur. Actually that's the only problem i've got with the bike. if i don't get better control over myself, i can see myself walking very easily.

compared to the old 250, she's got more power than god

    Brass Monkey

Who's likely to be going to the Brass? - sounds like NH is doubtful, and Delphinus looks a bit unlikely unless he gets a b.... seat!!

While the idea of a freezing night on a hill in Central Otago sounds bloody stupid in principle, this rally seems to have an unnatural drawcard appeal. Something every biker just has to do some time?

I've never been but was thinking of going up on the Sat, come home Sun (one night will be enough for me). Who else is thinking of going and do you plan on going via SH8 or via the Pig Root?
