Huge fine for speeding biker
A Durban motorcyclist, Jan-Hendrik de Vos, was clocked travelling at 295 km/h by traffic police along the N2 motorway in Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa. In addition, the rider was not displaying plates (gee I wonder why
) and the GSX-R 1000 motorcycle was unlicensed. The Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court handed out the largest fine in the province's history, R102 000 (~ NZ $20 000).
The motorcyclist has been handed a suspended sentence, however, only paying half the fine now.
Should de Vos commit a similar crime in the next five years, he will have to pay the balance of the R102 000 speeding fine.
