    Was Kirk based on Cook..?

Both men had the first name James and similar surnames and were brought up on farms (Cook in Yorkshire, Kirk in Iowa). They both became captains of ships with similar names (Endeavour and Enterprise). Cook's journal said he had travelled "further than any man had ever been before" while Kirk said his mission was "to boldly go where no man has gone before".
Cook and Kirk both set out to describe, rather than conquer or convert the lands they discovered. Cook set out in boats with his naturalist, a surgeon and musket-toting red-jacketed marines. Kirk beamed down to planets with his science officer Mr Spock, his medical offcer Dr "Bones" McCoy and various expendable characters in red jerseys.

The similarities are surely a bit strong to be total coincidence?
If you love it, let it go. If it comes back to you, you've just high-sided!

Captain Kirk was a sicko..he porked every freakin alien he ever met, including angry looking green ones.
Now I'm not prejudiced or shit, but a man's gotta draw the line somewhere.

Scott Bakula on the series Star Trek: Enterprise.... is the cutiest captain by far. As for the BEST captain I really enjoyed the series with Janeway as Captain. Kirk was a bit before my time, and kinda kooky.

Pah. Pish and tosh. There was only one space series with dodgy props that any self-respecting pommie kid had any time for....

    Blake's 7.

Ok, so Blake was a bit of a wuss (check out the sleeves!) but I'd put money on Avon to take out any Trekker.

Scott Bakula!! FUCKING HATE THAT COCKSUCKER! Goddamit, he's the guy who wrote that idiotic Prime Directive, he personally condemmed over a billion people to a long and painful death in series one. That's what stopped me watching ST Enterprise.
I hate him. I hate him so much if I ever see the actor in the street I will punch him in the nose for the crimes of the fictional character he played.
Enterprise should be expunged from the Star Trek canon. Or fired from it.

    Quantum Leap... ???

Enterprise (They only ever showed series 1 here in NZ on public TV) the show didn't really come into its own till season 3 where enterprise saves earth etc and season 4 starts anwering some of the questions of the other series.

Same as the new BattleStar Galatica so far only series 1, but they are already filming series 4 in the states... I had to download series 2 and 3 off the net (thanx jack) sorta answers why shows in NZ get canned so quickly because they to far behind and with most pepople can't wait that long and download off the net and when it does come on TV the don't get the ratings as most people that want to watch have already seen it... tis logical

MacGuyver was pretty kewl in StarGate SG1

Oh crap, mrs Kendog just pointed out that's Avon, not Travis. Oh well, I was drunk when I did the captions.
