New York bikers final journey by Harley-powered hearse

New York bikers can now make their final journey in the style to which they were accustomed – in a Harley-Davidson hearse.

The hearse – which is powered by a specially converted 2006 Road King Classic – cost Moloney Family Funeral Homes US$100,000. The three-wheeled converted bike pulls a replica of a 19th-century horse-drawn carriage. It can fit caskets up to 39 inches wide and carry more than 900 pounds of coffin and ‘dead’ weight.

Hire of the bike hearse costs US$795 compared to between US$475 to US$575 for a conventional hearse.

Owner Michael Maloney said "It's not morbid, it's cool. It's a way for people to always remember your funeral."
