Yes the plates and screws will hold it together.
Yes but he has to put it back on for his 2 week check up.
No. Make him wait for the two week check up before removing it.
No. Make him wait the full 6 weeks.
Get the hospital to put one on he can't remove
Hey take it off and then learn when he loses the full use of his arm ... bloody hell ... the cast is there partially to immobilise the thing and allow it to heal ...
Seen it several times before with sporting injuries. Cutting the cast off so the owner can go and play...
Don't bitch when it dosen't heal properly and causes further pain later on.

And then you have to go back and have shitloads of surgery...
Got a mate with a permanent bent wrist coz he took his cast off... he went to lean against a door and busted it without too much pressure at all... a couple of years of surgery... yeah he's happy he took his cast off...
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
we will remember them
Can't get a clearance to race so you might as well get a new cast on.
Heal well so I can watch the racing later on. Cheers
Ride on
Hey you lot!
No need to discuss the, "he cant complain thing if he takes off his cast"....because he knows this...
I have been there, done that in the past, attempted to talk someone out of taking off casts.....you cant!..........FROSTY is a big grown up! at best his nearest and dearest will be able to hold him back for a few weeks, tis his call.........and kay sirrah sirrah after that![]()
If the cast is a split cast, it should only be a temporary cast anyway. In other words, if he is supposed to be in a cast then the one he currently has on should be replaced with a permanent fibreglass. If he is not supposed to have a cast on after the current one has been on for a short time, then once removed it will stay off. He should have an orthopaedic outpatients appointment booked - if not, ring and make one. They will either take it off and replace it or take it off and leave it off.
In other words, as a split cast it is only temporary anyway, and should come off. The question is whether there is an orthopaedic reason for him to actually have a cast on and only an orthopaedic doctor should make that call.
Exploring pastures anew...
Depends.....where the hell has he got it stuck?......![]()
