Heh, I'm glad to see we are all on the same page now. Although, Rob, I think maybe comparing me to Big Kev is a bit unfair, unless Big Kev has been riding for 3 years and done about 13,000 km on his 250, and only upgraded when he had to get a new bike because his 250 broke. My problem at the time I upgraded was that I hadn't really ridden with other people before, so I'd never had any mentoring, and I'd never had to keep up with people faster than me—so I never really knew how much skill I lacked. Therefore, I thought I'd pretty much learned what I could on a 250, and so I got a bigger bike. But then I found out that actually I suck, and I'm working to fix it; whereas Big Kev seems to have just ignored all the advice he ever got...

Sounds a bit like me. Rode on my own over in the states for 4 years, but made massive improvments when I started riding in groups here. Learned more in the last year and a half than all the four years before.

You make a fair comment... at least you are trying to get better
Kev has had his learner's for something like 13years, but never rode (hence why he's still on his learners, or maybe restricted now), he then went and bought a Hyosung GT250R, decided he needed a bigger bike to become a better rider, so he bought a VFR800, and now, since he isn't a better rider yet, wants a Triumph Sprint ST, which will definitely make him a better rider, and then he can go touring with big pannier bags on the bike

But of course, Alternate Universe Sidewinder wouldn't have said that, because he would have matured like a normal person and therefore wouldn't suffer from (possibly drug-related) SPS which caused him to post nothing but negative drivel on messageboards, vainly trying to put people down to prove to himself how bloody marvelous he is.

I think you are confused about who is taking this seriously, and who is taking the piss (:
