    cowboyz birthday ride... (10 June)

    Bit chilly this morning...... hmmmm

well the brief was as follows....

Thinking heading over the track down into Waiarapa, Alfredton way to masterton and out round there somewhere. Don't even know why I bother putting this bit in the intro to my posts cause you know thats not really where we are going to go

Well didnt get anywhere near the waiarapa, alfredton or masterton!

Went down to Mobil just before 10 and Kat and Yod were already there. bonez was not too far behind which was good. Meanie busy dying so had to do a driveby at 10000 and my thumb slipped onto the horn as we drove by. Sorry about that.......

Instead we headed out the valley up to Kimbolton. Nice road and surprisingly dry with little gravel. Gave the 9 a bit of a birthday workout over the apiti to kimbolton road. Got to change my front tyre. Starting to lose confidence in it now.

Had some warm up coffee and chip and headed down the road to vinegar hill. Yod and I tried our best impression of "meanie on the hill". Again the road was dry and the traffic was showing up in places where you didnt need to throttle off - just striaght past.

Down the main road and the mighty V4 showed its power as we got in a bit of a drag. The road was a bit damp now, rain had obviously been and gone but left its mark. Yod did a bit of an impression of an irish dancer so I hope tyres are on special next week - that makes 2 of us.

Down over Halcombe hill to feilding where we refueled. A whole bunch of bikes went past down north street. Not sure where they were off too.

At the fuel stop I had an idea of a road I would like to go up but they moved one end of it and a little tiki tour gave Bonez the idea that he should be leading.

Back to ashhurst, waved Bonez and Yod off at the turnoff and wound the 9 up again to beat the rain by seconds as I pulled into the drive. Nice.

Another good day out. Pitty the entire crew couldnt make it but hopefully not long before we can all get out together and dying to see the twin triumphys together and my mirrors dont look right without a flash of orange in them.

Sounds like a bloody good ride! I'm glad you guys weren't let down by tyre issues, cause my pillion seat hasn't arrived yet and if I wasn't there who would have found the tow truck?

hey. shame you didnt turn up cause I spent half the night last night filing down my throttle cable so I could get a ride on the back of triumphy 2. Good thing it held together

Nice to meet you Kat - another one to add to the manawatu mix for future rides.

Had a really good day out today - i was a little concerned about how the weather would turn out when i checked metservice this morning but the roads were surprisingly good.

Went up another road that was new to me and got to know vinegar hill a bit better too - was doing my best to give the kwaka the learn but it just wasn't gonna happen - chasing cowboyz through the northern half was fun tho

got to know my back tyre a bit better as well, there were a few wriggles out there and one decidedly iffy moment but it stayed on the road and thats the main thing

Part of the bikes "character" you know. Getting the GBs "new" tires fitted, so should have that regeod & warrented shortly. Then you'll have a rip roaring 35hp to contend with .

Great pictures yod. Didn't realise the oil skin coat made my arse look so fat though.
