Some of the story below. It is believed he had an argument with his girlfriend shortly before the accident.

    Troop – B

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

    DATE: February 18th, 2006

    Motorcycle Fatality in Jefferson Parish

On Saturday, February 18th, 2006 at 2:23 am Louisiana State Police, Troop B investigated a single vehicle fatality crash at LA 48 (Jefferson Hwy) and Upstream Street. The crash involved a 2006 Suzuki, GRS 1000 sport motorcycle, operated by Mr. Ricky Lee Villers (W/M, 21 yoa), of River Ridge. The Suzuki motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on Jefferson Hwy and failed to negotiate the curve in the roadway. The motorcycle then left the right side of the roadway striking the front of the Taco Bell building at the intersection of Jefferson Hwy and Upstream Street. The motorcycle then penetrated the front of the building and exited the west side of the building. Mr. Villers suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Speed is a factor in the crash. It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash. There was no evidence on the scene which revealed if the driver was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

TFC Steve Volante is continuing his investigation.

Since when is 30mph considered speeding?

must admit, after looking at the photos I made note to self - pay even more attention on the roads

Seeing the damage done is far more realistic than hearing the description. Must give my paramedic friend an extra big hug next time I see her. She sees this stuff on a daily basis.

There's a very similar series of photos from an accident in Malaysia, little 150cc versus Truck. Although the guy was wearing his helmet, it didn't help keep his body parts together.

Was the Taco bell an attempted(and successful) suicide?

Thought it may have been suicide at first, but maybe not, just too fast.

A long time ago, in a place far, far away, (well Warkworth, actually..) I had a barney with my then girlfriend and took off on the old T500 in a bad mood. Got a rush of the sensibles before I did anything too silly and stopped up the Dome and took a walk in the bush! Much healthier! Physical exercise is as good as Prozac at times! Less dangerous, too.

Wound up marrying the silly girl in '77 and we're still together...

Actually a lot of the internal organs can only withstand sudden stops below that of 15mph, blunt force. See the human body was never really meant to travel that fast. So yes, a sudden stop at 30mph (50km/h) could kill ya.
