Get a glass bottle, smash it into little pieces, mix that with some mince. Biff the dog a few meatballs. It'll die a horrible, probably quite noisy, painful death. But it won't chase your bike again. Or anything else for that matter.

I haven't managed to take my bike out to my house yet.. Why..????? I'm too scared....

    Why..???

    Because of a dog...

It already waits, runs out and starts trying to attack the tyres on mums car.. And I really don't wanna think what it could do if it managed to knock me off my bike.. *has shit fuck all riding experience* so that could be quite easily done.... I could do alot of damage to myself and my bike.. All because someones to half arsed to keep their mutt under control..

What would be the best option... Approach owners of said animal.. putting across your concerns... Possibly have an understanding response, and a change in the situation.... Or..... Risk having a flame of abuse hurled in my general direction...

    Or...

Would you ring up the local council or dog control officer and let them know about the danger this dog risks to road users..?

Really.. What rights do you have..??

The animal is obviously not under control.. And dangerous..

Or would you just say "harden up" ride past with fingers crossed hoping it doesn't manage to latch onto your leg or bike tyre..?

Write them an anonymous letter and post it, after all you do know their address, raise your concerns and state that you wished to give them the opportuntity to remedy before going to the authorities.

Try not to give away any personal details as you don't want any sort of negative behavior.

ALSO DO NOT TELL ANYBODY THAT YOU ARE GOING TO WRITE A LETTER OF COMPLAINT, ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT IN ANY NEIGHBOURHOOD A SECRET IS NOT A SECRET IF EVEN ONE OTHER PERSON KNOWS WHAT YOU DID!!!

.... back in green and feeling great ....

The only time I think most of us would advocate any kind of physical violence towards a dog would be if it's a choice of that or having a major bin because it ends up under the bike. And even then only "reasonable force" i.e. that which is required to avoid an accident.

    That's unfair, cruel, and unnecessary.
In the final analysis, it's NOT the dog's fault. It's just being a dog, and doing what dog's do.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

A dog is only as clever as it's owner and the way it has been trained.

Well, if I could get away with shooting the dogs owner instead of the dog I would but there's kind of, you know, laws against that sort of thing....

Yep, dogs have owners, owners are obliged to control them, we should do it to the owners instead then

So let the law take it's course with the dog's owner.

I'm all for kicking a dog away from my front wheel to avoid a crash, but some of the responses in here are either piss takes or the posters are just arseholes.

Why do people wring their hands over this stuff?

If a dog's running loose and wreaking havoc, give the owners one warning to keep it locked up and under control. Be polite, explain yourself, don't yell at them. It's amazing what a bit of verbal judo can accomplish.

If they're really stupid and the dog does it again, shoot it and chuck it over the fence.

It's just a dog. Don't be cruel to it, but don't behave as though it's a misbehaving human child, either.

At work, I have to park behind the parking spot for the Police dogs and one of them just goes off big time at motorbikes, the others are OK. The one that goes off makes the entire van rock.

If it was out and about and decided I was lunch, a kick is only inviting it to bite what is presented, namely one leg. They could quite easily pull you off your bike...

Dark chocolate (70% cocoa solids) is fatally toxic to small dogs only, as in a Yorkie or mini Poodle. Otherwise it just makes 'em puke.

As we found out on Christmas morning when my Border Terrier had eaten the Terry's Chocolate Orange under the tree overnight . . .

Well I have not been pulled off a bike but I have been taken off the back of a bike by a kamikaze animal who decided to jump between me and hubby who was driving....

If instead of swerving and trying to get away from the dog, you slow/stop and win the confrontation by intimidation (rushing at it, or just getting off the bike may do it), shock, pain (a squirt of something like soapy water or lemon juice in the face is a goodun), or all of these things, then it's done, and it shouldn't bother you again.[/QUOTE]

u havent ridden asia have ya..i wouldnt get of the bike. with those dogs over there...be like throwing a lamb to the wolves...
