Keep in mind that you can camp at Teretonga and Timaru. Don't know about Ruapuna. I didn't do that this year but probably will next. I'm not sure if you can stay all 4 night though (Thursday - Sunday). Someone else may be able to answer this.

Tony if I could give you a cost breakdown NOT including running costs -yours will be different from mine My last nats cost me (including my crews contribution) $10000. I think the major difference for you will be tyres.
One suggestion for you is not to stop racing completely. Even if you bludge a ride on a F3 bike it will keep your race fitness up to scratch.
That or trackdays might help. The 10-15 lappers after the 6 lap sprints you're used to will be hard yakka.
Not saying you MUST Just saying it will hugely improve your enjoyment of the nats if you are race fit.

I've learnt from being married to be grateful and accept what evers put on offer hahaa
Ahh but theres something special about the # 42
Thanks man, thats the kind of stuff I need to know not ever having been down there.
Gotta admit......................you baby boomers have alot to answer for
Thanks Shaun.................................err better not look at my signature, had a wee change there. Had an offer too good to pass on.
I'm with you there Mr Frosty.......................I think thats the key to staying bike fit, trouble is there's not the funds to do both at the moment, will be putting some bars on a sawhorse to keep the body bent the right way lol.
Will try to get some time at testdays as those sessions are longer than most races.
O well, that is your choice dude, just PISS of in future then and do not ask me any questions hahaha
PS, who is Metzeler helping to sell there tyres with race craft and set up advice for the customer mate?
Nah, I will still help ya mate if needed, you display a great attitude for others to learn from I think.

Great Thread people keep up all the positiveness.
It is great to see people helping each other.
Maybe we could start a thread with contacts etc.
I will be chasing up the Guy who offered cheap "Cook Straight" crossings at Pukekohe
As most who do nats down the southern end of the country know, but if we can help (Southland Honda) with things like tyres changed or workshop space while your here, let us know. Plus if you need hotels etc down here i can point you towards the better ones.
Im currantly doing the same thing tony.
Maybe we could put our heads together and sort something out.
Myself and a mate are looking at doing the nats this year. Just comes down to how i go financially this year.

You can do it on the cheap for 20 grand all up! Its the crashes that kick the budget out. Have a chat to choppa. I budget for around 30 grand for racing a 600. Over a third of that is on tyres... Or around 4500-5000 a race weekend.
See Robert Taylor for any Ohlins requirements www.northwest.co.nzThanks Colemans SuzukiThanks AMCCI use DID Chains and Akrapovic Exhausts
I actually had a thought years ago about a bunch of guys mounting a Nationals assault. What would happen if say 6 or 8 guys regardless of their race class got together and rented a 40 foot container for a month.
All the bikes and equipment strapped in there then a 40 foot long tarp inside to run off the side.--container gets delivered to the track say on wendsday and ready made pits and secure bike storage.

Without trying to be a smart arse...get a R1 or GSXR... proven fast bikes...where a good number of riders are helping Robert with set up data...and isusse's...and can help each other.
Look at the history of GSXR's in NZ as championship winning machines [and 2nd,3rd,4th,etc] over the years...because its a hard package to beat!
I'm with Poos on this one old boy! i hope that you do get the chance to show us what your made of!!
Ride it like you stole it....
Yeah thats in spec'd up form mate.................Prod SBK will be stock engines, haven't had any probs despatching stock GSXR's or more powerful ones (without sounding pretentious) on my bike as yet.
The biggest reason though is that my current Ohlins susp is actually for the new Blade, be silly to sell that for half price then have to buy more at a higher price. Add to that my wheels, sprockets, HRC throttle, braided lines etc I'm nearly there.
The stock bikes are all so similar with HP now, and I know my Honda's so don't have to start from scratch.
Financially this way makes much more sense![]()
