(no really - I got your point... I suspect you're wildly off target and wrong... but I got it. I suspect you're trying to largely or wholly attribute the behaviour to the gaming world in an attempt to have the point look silly enough that it rebuts itself... sadly for you that's not what I said.)
    The point is silly.

Murder/torture is hardly new to the world. It's not a concept that has solely come around with the advent of violent video games.

Duke Nukem did not cause the Crusades. Nor the murderous games in the Coliseum in Rome.

Neither of the World Wars were not because someone decided to re-create Call of Duty or Medal of Honour.

Ghenghiz Khan didn't rampage across Asia and Europe because someone teamkilled him for a helicopter.

Video games have no more effect than violence on the news, in movies, even in music. It's hardly a causative factor.

People have been sick fuckers for centuries. This is hardly a new phenomenon.

    Just my thoughts.

I have volunteered t the SPCA for quite some time, and I have been fortunate enough to have not seen animals who have sufffered to this degree. It makes me fuckin sick to see this shit, and it makes me want to get a crew and go and exert some vigilante justice on these sick minded arseholes.

Agreed - that was part of my original point.

The rest of my point was the repercussions of interactive violence via games on some people with a predisposition to violence.

I let my five-year-old son play violent video games - far as I can tell, he was born desensitised, so I figure I might as well.

Don't forget the violent children's TV shows then in your crusade.

I exploded a cliff on top of a busload of nuns yesterday, because I recall Wil E. Coyote doing a similar thing during my youth.

    Woman admits stabbing abusive partner

    Tuesday, 5, May, 2009 2:51PM
A 46-year-old Tauranga woman has admitted stabbing her abusive partner, but says she feared for her own safety.

Amelia Sarsfield appeared in the Tauranga District Court today over the incident, which occured in November last year.

Sarsfield say when the man approached her in a drunken rage, she stabbed him in the chest with a short bladed knife.

Judge Peter Rollo said Sarsfield would normally face imprisonment for such an offence, but in the circumstances six months home detention would be appropriate. He also sentenced her to 250 hours community work, or job training.

So you're saying playing video violent games has no effect or even better, a beneficial effect on behaviour?

I'm saying that I don't believe there is a causative link between them.

If there is ANYTHING that actively encourages this sort of behaviour, it would be the lackadaisical sentences usually handed out by the courts. 'Cuz you know, they're just kids.

They know they can get away with this shit, so they have no disincentive not to.

THAT should be the focus of you/society before you try and take the easy way out with a scapegoat.
