Actually the are OK in the wet. The Pilot Sport is their 'old' sport tyre. Previously fitted to a lot of bikes as factory standard (on the last lot of new SV1000's I saw recently).
Personally I think the PR2's stick better and last longer.
If you want really sticky on the Hornet try Pilot Powers (plain or the two compound ones) or Metzeler M3s. M3's get good rain ratings for sports tyres.

I thought it seemed bloody good heading up the desert road! (in 3 Celcius BTW, hotgrips literally only thing keeping me going)
Other than lifespan would you be happy with that choice of tyre again?
I found out when I got to Tauranga some mutton had put the front wheel on backwards.....so tyre, rotors/whole lot running the wrong way......fucked up! I travelled from wellington like that through the night.....not ideal......

Mate, you should have been able to get the right advice from the guys at Veitch's - they stock the Bridgestones .... did you try them ?
Every man and his dog think that there are no good dealers in their own area, but usually half their customers come from out of town
ALWAYS try the locals FIRST.........

Yeah I usually would, but as i'm away from home I don't want to rack up the phone bill.....plus there's the old blackboard specials they don't tell you on the phone.....happenend when I got the contis from cycletreads, when I went in to get them fitted, as they were being fitted I saw the board with pirellis for the same price which I would have picked had I known...local knowledge helps.

There's a bike shop off Kahikatea Drive opposite the Mad Butchers
They have real good prices, and are wiling to deal - brother in law got an awesome deal from them. They have a selection of tyres and brands
I'm sure someone on here will fill in the name of the place - I strongly suggest giving them a ring
Tyres I've had on the Bandit; Pilot Rd 2's were great to ride on especially in the wet, Metzlers Z3 didn't give me any confidence. I'm on my second set of Conti's, the Conti sport attacks were fantastic, but wore out to quick (3000ks) got Conti road attacks fitted at the moment - and I think I'll stay with them
They are not as sure when cold - but a great all round tyre
Lifes Just one big ride - buckle up or hang on
Got a Pirelli Strada 180/55-17 off Boyds for $260 the other week.
But feel free to pass the Tron.
Smoky, you talking bout Big Bikes?

Alan and Grant are awsome guys, and the shop sponsors the "bike shed" at the Oko pub.
People forget some of the bike wholesalers are based in Hamilton, and good deals via the local shops are common.

Not sure about that one......LOL
I found out as the front brakes were squeeling, pulled off calipers and after a bit of inspection/checking for glazing/rotors ok I noticed a tiny arrow on the rotor pointing the wrong way, as was the tyres little arrowAll sorts of funny thoughts went through my mind......only took me a few minutes to put it the right way, but I was thinking how crazy it was i'd travelled so far like that.....needless to say the brakes don't squeel so much now.........

Vietch's was my first stop, they said they had nothing and offered to bring in a kenda, when that came in it was the wrong size, every time I go in there they look at me like they've never seen me before. service is impersonal, if the locals want my buisness they should try harder. I'm not asking for red carpet treatment, just some fucking recognition that i've spent some money at that place in the past. Took me all of 5 minutes to pick up the phone and call Cycletreads to get an answer. Why couldn't Vietchs parts dept do the same? not enough profit in getting supplied by another dealer i spose. Still, would have kept me happy as a customer and they might have got more of my money at a later stage. I asked them to shop around for me that I could afford a bit better then a kenda but they never got back to me.
Don't get me wrong here, im a VERY strong supporter of local buisness. But in return I like a little support back![]()
