i would just like to find out what the others think
which would you prefer
few shorter races on the day (currently think maybe 3 races between 6-10 laps)
or
one long one ( about the total of all 3 races in one go)

The advantage of more races with less laps, is it allows set up changes, and another go if ya biff your bike away, (or another two goes if you're me onboard a Ducati).
One race per class would actually get HEAPS more laps in, because there is only a third the time required to grid up, and get off the track.
I'd still rather more races, less laps.
a good mix is good - this will expand us racers abilities and fitness etc.
it also stops people in post classics and F3 building bikes with 5l fuel tanks!!
long races would put alot of pressure on that race - if something is wrong or you get run off the track you cant redeem yourself in the following race.
I prefer 6 lap sprint races!! You get just as shagged as longer races, and also the spectators get to watch intense racing rather than a precession which is usually more than not decided after 3 laps anyway!
Is it still beastiality if ya fuck a frozen chicken??
I like a mix aye, I find with less races that are longer qulifying position isn't as absolutley critical.

I'me old - I like short races ....... :-)
nah, in reality probably 2 x sprint races & one long race if the club has the time up there sleeve to complete them on the day of course. The long race being say twice the length of the short races ?

I agree the biggest adrenalin kick of a race is the start and first corner. In saying that, the most enjoyable race I've had was the Endurance (45mins) at Puke a few weeks ago, even though I crashed and entry numbers were low. I found there were heaps of good battles due to the fact that you can't ride at 100% for the whole race. Somebody might be on a quicker bike than you, but if you go hard for a few laps you can catch up if they're having a snooze and vice-versa. So it introduces a few more elements like strategy and fitness, both mental and physical.

I think a alternating between meetings would be awesome, or with the two dat events that VMCC put on, run the first day like a normal race day with short races and on the second day put on say a 45 - 60 min race. that'll sort the men from the boys, and I think after my experience from taupo endurance race, the racing will be just as exciting if not more so with the added interest factor of possible pit stops and race strategies
Actually thats a good point...pit stops might make it more difficult to organize pit crew etc for riders...goodness knows its hard enough now and most of the work done in the pits at a race meet is riders helping out other riders so that could be a negative for longer races.
