All good in the end and a few stories to boot.

Rain wasn't bad and i'd wrapped up (+heated grips) so didn't get cold at all. Thought the ride over all was good and the south loop turned out to be a good run.

Hope everyone enjoyed the riding they did get in.

KB ride without drama? wouldn't be the same

All I know is, I came around a corner and got into second gear.

Then.... This guy comes at me in the middle of the metal road waving a stick. I stop and say hi, thinking he was friendly....

He abuses me and all the guys, saying this isn't a race track and such, then whacks my front tyre with the stick....HARD! Lucky it was a Michelin...
    Lucky it was good rubber

I was brave, I rode off and said Fuck you.... under my helmet and into the wind....

Gathered around the bend and then 15 minutes later he fronts with the gang of two and the next 4-5 minutes is a little heated...

I was behind NZKTM and saw the guy come into the road and wave us down, and I thought it must be a stock movement maybe. Then he stopped us and started yelling abuse at NZKTM,when he started hitting his bike with the stick I thought I might just move out while there was a distraction. Then he turns up with reinforcements at the end of the road, and has a go at us again.

It was a surreal flashback 35 years for me - a large group of bikes and some local going off his head at us.At least we are consistent.

And what is the explanation for the ditch plowing just before Limestone Downs?

I saw the dog first and thought he was just warning us of the dog on the road. I am mindful of stock and after all the riding I have done around the Waikato and King country have never had any issues with stock.....
Only young, arrogant, so called farmers from Port Waikato...

When I spoke to him at the intersection he was really quite reasonable, he even sort of apologised for hitting my tyre as he knew we weren't all racing around the roads.

Having said that, I have no idea as to what even pre-cursed this event as we were quite spread out.....

Usually a wave is enough to say hello, but a whack across the front tyre is a bit too much for a first date...

Anyway, it was fun and next time I will always remember the event on Klondyke Rd...

Shit, even the name spells trouble, dueling banjos and such....Remember Deliverance?

Again, thank for sorting the ride Cary, lots of fun , but Warren realised his gear wasn't up to cope with the cold, so we bailed.

Peter was overtaking me around a gentle corner & went wide into a ditch. (No harm done)

Will have to give the mmmmmm ride a look in!

After that down hill section and it was a left hander? Did he take it a little wide or a little fast...?
I thought it would be a hard one to get out of as it was deep and ran for a bit alongside the road...
He got out of it okay and nothing damaged by the look of it...so all was good...

There was quite a bit of new metal on the road and it sort of collected on all of the corners didn't it..?

Thanks for organizing the ride, Cary. It's a neat area to ride in. After lunch a few of us went back the same way we came, including Klondyke road.

I prefer wet gravel to wet roads any day.

There was 3 of us keen who probably didnt realise it was adventure riding, non the less it was bloody mint ride, thanks to Cary for the directions once we got to the tuakau bridge.

passed a mad looking black R1 on the way home, hot chocolate was a nice compliment to the chilly weather, and we had no pissed off farmer slowing us down!!
