As one of the guys posting a question on the auction says, this is a pulse jet. There's plenty of videos on Youtube of homemade bicycles with these strapped on. They don't go quite as fast as you might think (although a few people claim almost 90kph -- that would be scary) and they make more noise than anything else. Still, very cool, I'd love to give one a go, would be an absolute hoot.

    Here's a typical well-built one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxuUjlTzLy0

I think I'd prefer something like this, with a proper jet engine (afterburner even!) and a motorcycle chassis. This one doesn't look too fast though, not that you'd want to go that quick I suppose! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yy4KH...eature=related

Looking at that engine you might be lucky to eventually get to 30kmh before the fuel runs out. You need quite a big pulsejet to more a person.

Gets you down to the dairy and back in that time
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods
