At 12 last night, I decided that since it was such a cold and clear night that it would be a good idea to go do some photography and just generally get out and about.
All was going brilliantly, stopped in town, got (what I hope to be) some nice shots, then thought...hey, its only 1am why not take a drive out into some Hunua back roads and get a few of the night sky.
So I did, hopped onto the southern, got off at Papakura and proceeded to go out into Hunua, took a few back roads etc and eventually got to a spot where there was no light pollution from the city because I was in the middle on nowhere. GREAT.
Hop out of the car to have a quick looksy at the sky, sure enough, amazing, could see more stars than on the average night thanks to the cold and clear atmosphere.
Walk around to side of car to get out camera and tripod...and yep. Locked out with keys in ignition.
'OK' I think, I can suss this, pull out cellphone (for light) and try find a long length of wire or such from one of the farmers fences. 1 minute later, cell phone dies. EVEN BETTER.
So now I know I am buggered. I can break into a car with a piece of wire, but I have no light to find some. I have no cellphone to call anyone and no one is remotely close to me that I can go to for help. Even if I could, there is no way in hell I am just leaving my car sitting there with keys in it and camera sitting in plain view.
So I do what I have to do....elbow through the passengers window.
Was an amazingly cold drive home. Now I have glass to clean up and a new window to source. FANTASTIC.
I am a moron.
