All these new proposed laws fail to tackle the real problem. Crushing cars and trying to ban cruising will not work, it will only make the problem far worse than it already is, because if those drunken idiots are not cruising round in cars they will be walking the streets causing more problems than they already are. This whole problem has nothing to do with cars, like when that cops car got shot at in Christchurch, it was not a boy racer that did it, it was some drunken idiot with an airgun, and yet these Nazis are blaming it on cars. And when that security guard got her car bottled last week by Christchurch airport, it was not a boy racer that did it, it was some drunken idiots that did the damage. I fail to see how crushing and impounding cars will prevent drunken hooligans from assaulting people and causing willful damage. The "boy racers" do annoy some people with their noisy exhausts and BOVs, but it's the pissed passengers that are causing all the problems, so why isn't the government trying to tackle the real problem?

my ex in canada told me that you cannot carry ANY alcohol within reach in a vehicle, whether its open or closed. so if you go the shop and get a box of whatever, it has to be stored in the boot for the trip home. would be an ideal law for here, but no one would comply by it.

as for the smacked arse argument... i got mine whacked a few times and grew up to be fairly reponsible. my brother got the same [but was molly coddled as first borns generally... he can get away with murder, and got away with stuff almost as bad including multiple accidents, drugs, tickets and worse] and he grew up to be the biggest cunt under the sun. its not so much the smacked backsides, its how they are treated the rest of time... do their parents think the sun shines out their darlings bum? if yes, then they will grow up to think the world revolves around them.

It would be very effective if the cars were crushed with the BRs still inside them. That would stop the problem stone dead.

The government should charge and extra 20% tax on all beer bottles and bottled RTDs to encourage people to buy canned beverages, that would at least reduce the amount of bottle throwing and the huge mess than has to be cleaned up, not to mention all the dented panels and broken windows that bottles cause.

I already suggested in the other thread that a CHCH hunter or target shooter should lie down in a nice spot a few hundred meters from their little meet and start shooting their rad's, preferably during a burnout. Bigger rifles should leave a nice hole in their engine block?

Too true - got a niece and nephew with a similar story. She was the first born but got the discipline, made to do what she was told and suffered the consequences if she didn't. He came along, was treated with kid gloves and allowed to do what he wanted, when he wanted, and to treat others (especially his sister) like dirt. Fast forward more than 30 years - she is a responsible married mother of three with a good job, nice husband who owns his own business and a lovely woman. Him? Well, he's a real loser. Can't hold down a job for long (even got sacked by his own father), into drugs, petty crime, etc and no one likes him. Gives a whole new meaning to the words 'white trash'.

Hopefully the recession will hit them hard - no jobs will mean no credit and no cars, etc. I'm just so glad they don't live near me!
