Came into work today expecting a quick flick to New Plymouth and back. They tell me it's been changed to Dunedin via Hokitika and Christchurch. Fark, hope the heater is working! Does this qualify me for the Grand Challenge?

Great day in the end. The alps looked amazing as they do this time of year. Didn't expect to get to Dunedin when I went into work this morning but there you go.

its on days like today flying can be fun huh .. after all where else can you flit from one end of the country to the other & take in stunning scenery ... and get paid for it

Other than the terminal, it doesn't look like a lot has changed in Hokitika in the last 40 years. I'm sure that's the same gate?

was there a onboard coffee service and if not how did you get as far as Dunedin??

Thanks for the comments It was one of those out of the boxes days 7 hrs straight flying only stopping for gas. Hoki, yep, time does stand still down there but I noticed a lot of lifestyle blocks have sprung up and there were some pretty flash cars in the park. When I went to pay for my coffee they didn't have eftpos so the kind lady gave it to me. West coast hospitality Wasn't so lucky in CH or Dunedin though, that's why they call them 'terminal prices' But the Dunedin latte was bloody good and went down extremely well (OK then, so I won't claim it for the GC)

Nope terminal is cause the price of trip is cheap,the coffee and eats kills the trip.

I took two one square meals. Had one in Hoki and the other enroute to Dunedin. I considered a pie in Dunedin but thought bugger that! $$$$$

Hey Jodi Thanks for that, it was a stunning day for it alright! The flight itself was amazing and made even cooler by flying over some of the best biking roads around. Good to see you up and about. We'll have to pop in for a visit soon
