    Funny sign placement ...

Nothing on tv worth watching today, so pack the camera in the tank-bag and off for a tootle. A bit cool but it is winter ... lol.
I have noticed a few signs in the area that for some stange reason give me a smile as to their placement. I know the logical reason as to why they are there in that position ... but I still wonder ...
From a 50 km/hr zone to a 100 km/hr zone. Note the closeness to the stop sign to the 100 km sign. Could a 100 km.hr be achieved and still stop at(before) the sign ??? Do any others see a funny side to it ... or is it just me.

yes it probably is just me ...

Anybody else got some other funny signs/placement out there ... ???

Yer, we have a 70 temporary sign just outside the 100 k limit here. It's been there for a 'bridge under repair' for about 2 years. Bridge isn't looking to be repaired any time soon so the stupid signage will be there for some time yet. The kids often say to me to speed up to 100 and back down to 70 for the 30 meters or so of the 100k limit! lol

The funniest sign I've seen though would have to be one of those 'Aged Persons' signs. Some tagger put 'Enr' on the front of it! LOL Made me laugh every time I drove past it..

When the 100kmh sign was moved from beside the golf course to its present postion, I just had to try. Yes it is possible to accelerate from 70 to 100 and still stop with a couple of meters to spare if I'm on the bike in 3rd gear all ready to go. In the cage it is not possible.

Edit: I just realized that's the Hazlett St stop, not the Sutherland St one. No chance of getting to 100 and still stop in time.

Can't imagine getting to 100 down this track. North from Tahora, Forgotten Highway.

I always snigger at the 95km/hr corner signs.

If 5km/hr is all the difference between staying on the road and crashing then there are some serious issues with the driver training.

Yes pretty funny... but I can see the logic to it. You're on a 50kph road then turning onto a 100kph road. How do you know the new speed limit is 100kph unless you have local knowledge or make a good guess? Of course you could put some more signs on the main road just on either side of the intersection, but you get the picture a lot tidier if you put them on the 50kph secondary road just before the junction.

I guess they are acknowledging that people travel faster than 100km and this corner warrants the warning...good on em I reckon.

In my original post I stated I could see the logic in their placement ...

Just had a giggle at their reality ... does reality make you giggle too ... ???

Yeah I'm wearing my glasses now

One of the ones that confused me was out the back of where I live, towards the airport. I think perhaps at one time it was a 100kph; now it is 80kph. Nevertheless, as you cruise along at 80, there is (or was the last time I was there 6 months ago) a `recommended speed' sign for a corner... of 85kph
