I only visit 3 sections regularly - more drilldown is harder than I want it to be and what would we discuss that hasn't already been said in this thread or others like it.

Does NZ motorcycle `journalism', as a whole, represent the worst writing ever put to print? Why is it that after reading a Kiwi Rider magazine my sum total knowledge of motorcycling is somehow diminished?

The worst mag is the Australian 'Two Wheels ' shallow and overopinionated. Kiwi Rider used to be a good mag till they started getting all big and shiny, thats when my 20 year every month purchase ended and I've stopped buying them fullstop.

And was reading with glee the snippet about the S1000RR on page 10-11 and the end of the story has been left out!! And amongst other errors did you know that changes have been made to the CBR to broaden torque between 8000 and 120,000 RPM. Man the new honda revs!! Lots of mistakes creeping in again guys. Standards are slipping.......

My other half comments on this every time he reads the magazine! He gets really annoyed with their "habit" of putting quote marks around "words" that don't really "need them", and their spelling is pretty appalling too. So often the wrong words are used too - they may be real words, but it's the wrong word for the meaning they want to convey. He's given up buying them, he just reads his boss' copy!

I 'mostly' use them for 'emphasis'. Of course there are other ways to do it, but they don't 'fit' within the house STYLE. And I 'personally' eschew obfuscation and avoid Malaprop if possible.

My pet bitch about most magazines lately is the photography.

When reviewing a bike I'd like to see a mint set of images of the bike from side on (both) plus front & rear. Then you can do your arty images of the dirty underside of a well thrashed jurno bike mid corner/wheelie.
