Smile I need a running partner! Anyone keen?

    Hi Girls and Boys!

I'm training for the Auckland 1/2 at the moment but have recently encountered the obstacle of darkness. I'm not too enthralled by the idea of running alone at night. There are some fraking weirdos out there!

    So if you're:

    1. a runner
    2. live in East Auckland
    3 needing a running buddy
    4. and most importantly, not a weirdo.

    let me know.

I know someone in the airforce and you really don't need to be that fit!

Yeah, I also know someone who did the recruit course last year. He said it wasn't that bad. But better to be prepared than to go in there being a lazy slob.

Seems you got good number of volunteers. Just do a group run. They can be your personal bodyguards. Cool!

If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.

    Haha sounds like a plan!

Well I typically don't get home until 5.30, so a 6/6.30pm run would be ideal for me. I live in Howick fairly close to O'hagans- nothing stopping us from going for a beer afterwards to undo all the good!

    Done a half before?

    What time are you targeting?

The Auckland half course is deceptively slow and undulating. If you want to improve on your PB (and you undoubtedly will), do the Kerikeri half three weeks later. You'll be in better condition and it's a fast course.

And beer is terrible post-training nutrition. But you knew that already.

Also, when you say 'not a weirdo', one presumes that that's girl-code for 'don't expect to get a shag out of this'.

Might find most of them deciding not to bother after the small clarification in my last post.

Is running during your lunch hour an option? You'll find it much easier on the lungs than breathing traffic polluted colder winter air.
