If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.
the difference between football and rugby is that in rugby.. most times the distance run with the ball is 5 yards before it is passed backwards.. players on either side do not have much room to accelerate to full speed..
in football.. it is passed forwards and the big 340 pound padded up linesmen have enough room to reach a decent speed before contact
ever been hit by a cement mixer?.. try that without padding ( i played uni football for a number of years.. trust me .. the hits are WAY bigger)
Ever seen an old AB's game with Jona Lomu, SARGE? Or the caveman?
Dude at work from the islands plays american football and thinks its pretty damn dangerous because the hits are much harder than in rugby.
It's appealing on TV because death is always close... if you're on the wrong part of the track, you can easily get sucked into a wall at 180mph and spend the next 20 seconds tumbling and flipping down the straight, all the while other cars are trying not to ream you.
It's appealing at the track because the Yanks know how to entertain, if NZ motorcycle racing could do half as well...
There is plenty of opportunity for full speed collision in the Rugby Codes.
The bigger difference is because the player has to be 'held' after the collision - rather than just contact the ground.
Ironic the rest of the padding is to protect them from the Helmets too.
you don't get much then do you
WISDOM IS KNOWING KARMA REALLY CAN'T GET YOU.
