Not to mention they mite not know the track as well as you do .......ahhhh seeing as they didnt get to put the arrows out and get familiar with the track before raceday........HAH howdya like them beans?

In saying all of that tho I thought you rocked coming down that big long straight on your back wheel!!!
Yeah, I was that random chick at the end of the long straight cheering everyone on - thought everyone rocked
Chi chi's Mrs?? thought it was you.. had a flat front tyre that lap and was trying to keep front light haha

I've done mine few times Barty.
Ribs don't necessarily break clean they break like you'd break an Ice block stick with the front together and the back sort splintered. Well that's how it was shown to me on an Xray once. Nothing much they can do mate just no laughing, coughing or sex!!!
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out! Shouting, ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! '

Tony, you should set up a track at woodhill as a "2 man training course"

Well, for what should have rightfully been a crappy day for us (with all the mechanical faults) I can't bring myself to be in a bad mood over it because of all the lovely KBers and other people who helped us out yesterday
Buffy, who got us there in the first place after seeing us with the mighty peoplemover all in a shambles broken down up the top of muriwai, you're awesome! We were seriously considering just riding the bikes in at that point, didn't want to upset the neighbourhood and get the organisers in the poo tho, haha.
The organisers!! Who put on a very cool event, and let us sign in even though we were really late after the car troubles. I loved the setup, it was so wicked being able to see bits of the race from the sidelines, the track was really cool, lots of nice forks in the track where you could overtake/pick different lines too. I know people don't like woops, but I thought they were great since I passed lots of people on them Thanks to my towie on the quad too, for anyone who thought the roots were bad, they're much worse to go over while being towed by a quad but we made it out safe and sound. Krad then doubled me back to sign in and I ran/hobbled as best as can be done in bike boots to get our transponder in...Wonder what my lap time was...
Barty's pit tent was great, and the consolation prize for coming last was much appreciated, don't think I can bring myself to taste defeat just yet, I hear it tastes like aspartame
All the KBers who hung out with me at the bottom of the hill and tried to make my bike go, it was a no go but the company and the effort was much appreciated! The bottom of the hill was a cool place to be stopped at least, I got to watch lots of crashes and got a lot of 'WOO HOO!'s from passer-bys. Wish I had my point and shoot, I normally pack it but figured I wouldn't need it in a race! So many faceplants...
Reckless and Oldskool for their kind offers to tow us out, cheers fullas
    and finally..
CLMINITE! Who was the total man and got us and our bikes home, who faced the driveway ditch of doom and survived, and managed to have a great attitude the whole time! I can't say thank you enough!! Me and krad and meatbomb will definitely have to pay it forward some day

Yup, so, very exciting day. And I am knackered now. Woke up with a killer headache and took a sick day. All things going well we'll have working bikes and a working vehicle and be back for round two, maybe even get the chance to help some other people out

I saw you on the side of the track and I yelled out "its me, CHEESE" and you looked at me blankly while Krads was trying to kick your bike over. I took that as a Grrrrrrrr so headed off. I was trying to catch up to Rupe anyway.

Yeah I'm joining the gym tonight to try and get a bit fitter for round two. I know it won't make me ride faster, but hopefully I won't be as fucked half way through a lap!!

Tony - keen as to come have a training day with you.

    What Happened!

What happened to your bike then Spiked Punch? You've not had the best of luck over the past couple of weeks. Glad to see you're still cheerful about it all! We were getting a little concerned when we didn't see you back!

There's a new gym promoting itself behind the Tavern/Valentines on Wairau Rd. Offering a really good deal and has new equipment. Same lot that run the one in Highbury, both handy to you.

Lol, don't remember that, musn't have heard you, woops
Midge: It carked itself after I crashed at the top of a downhill. I tried to roll start it from there and it wouldn't go, and tried to kick it about 858765897x at the bottom and it wouldn't go still. Tried a bunch of other stuff...Just no go.

Whip the mag cover off (left side, plastic). Can you see any oil? And, please to check the kill switch wire wasn't crushed when you fitted the new tank.....

I sent spike a message before. My RM was the same and it was the sparkplug lead.

    Anyway definitely sounds electrical.

    Fucking Suzukis.

    Passing phase

I always find it tricky to work out best approach when letting faster riders through.

It's bloody difficult to concentrate on what you're doing and also monitor how close a following rider is getting. I usually move over & tip my head or flick a hand out to indicate side I'm suggesting they pass on so they can be sure I'm not going to veer onto that line. Seems to go down well, 9/10 times you'll get a 'thanks mate.'

Often I'd deliberately take a crappy line to let someone through. Other times I either slowed right down at passing moment or even pulled over & stopped. But if you loose 5 seconds 12 times, that's a big fat minute off your own lap time. Us average guys are racing & testing ourselves as well & wanting a decent result for our ability level. (keen to see those results, stop teasing KTMboy! lol)

Seems the rev engine trick can easily piss people off if you do it straight away, especially in a spot that doesn't offer a pass opportunity. I hardly ever do it but then some dudes seem to make no effort to let you through. The ones who are just a bit slower are by far the hardest to pass. In frustration I sometimes took some pretty dodgy lines to get by.

Was very aware that doing solo, i had to save energy so couldn't go too ballistic anywhere, so i put extra effort into not to slowing anyone up because it really was a two-man event after all. Oddly, sometimes I'd let a rider pass & they would then slow down & I'd end up having to pass them back again (tortise & hare factor, lol). Passed a few on that marble surface uphill (before the deep sand climb). Gave myself one wee fright on that, but found you could you fly up if easy on the throttle.

Buffstar, so that was you cheering us on at end of start straight? I really appreciated that big time! Got a huge boost from it & was able to dig a bit deeper. Cheers.
