She is turning 30, so need something reasonably good. I'm getting her an eternity ring made, so hence the need for a small something.

Some good suggestions there thanks guys.

More stuff I have thought of overnight...

    Luxury beauty spa treats:
Manicure, pedicure, massage, facial, hair do

    Courses:
Cookery class, art class, cheese-making course, barista training, jewellery making

    Gorgeous things:
Shoes, scarves, jewellery, handbag (virtually anything sparkly, shiny or beaded). Sexy underwear or nightwear (silk nightie or pjs, embroidered silk dressing gown or kimono, embroidered silk slippers.)

Household/decor (Be careful with this one... needs to be something luxurious for her rather than something just for 'the house')
Luxury egyptian cotton sheets and/or duvet cover, warm rug for her to put her feet on when she gets out of bed on a cold morning, a piece of artwork for the wall or a beautiful vase, lamp or other item she has admired recently
There is no such thing as bad weather; only inappropriate clothing!

Take Jack to Paint the Earth in Takapuna - get him to paint something for her or other cheaper option is to get some canvas & get him to paint or do hand/foot prints.
Get photo of you & jack or jst Jack framed

    From you:
Voucher for a massage, facial or similar.
If she likes reading a book voucher

Whatever you do, do not pay for your wife to attend a cookery class as a present. Odds are she will take it as an insult regarding her ability to cook. You may as well buy a "Jenny Craig" or "Weight Watchers" membership.

Gift cards with your son offering to do (age appropriate) tasks.

Littlies can take out the rubbish or open doors for breakfast in bed, not so littlies can make breakfast in bed, do lawns, dishes etc.

Cards can be "cashed in" at any time she sees fit over the next 12 months
$2,000 cash if you find a buyer for my house, kumeuhouseforsale@straightshooters.co.nz for details

    I didn't think of that!

First, buy her a cooking lesson voucher, then a weight watchers voucher, then you might as well whack yourself on the head with a rolling pin before she does it for you.

We really do make it impossible for you blokes, don't we?

Well I'm freckin hopless at this shit but my wife has one rule Its HER birthday therefore buy something for her.
Not for the house like a new toaster or to learn how to cook with etc etc!
So I'd limit my choices to her? The pic from your kid (good idea) involves time thought and effort (they like that)! or the langerie or perfume!
Or if you are definatly getting the ring maybe a suprise night out and organise everything so she doesn't have to do anything, again the time thought and effort thing is formost here!!
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out! Shouting, ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! '

I got a $3,500 chainsaw once - and then he took it with him when he left - cheek of it! But not like I wanted it - it was one of those typical guy gifts - you know the ones, fella's - give them what you really want - cause you'll get it anyway LOL

Paint the earth is a cool idea! You can do all sorts of stuff there. I think you can even do jewellery boxes there so maybe get jack to paint the box and present the ring to her in it?
I think most girls like presents with thought and effort, something that targets a specific interest or whatever of hers would be good, even if you think it's silly. The ring sounds like a great present on it's own, so yeah, just something little and thoughtful would be well received I think.
(My 30th pressie for krad was an evs neck brace and a nice dinner out, but I don't think the former would go down so well with her eh Dinner was at harbourside and quite nice, but the weather was crap so we couldn't sit on the balcony, be a bit nicer in summer I think.)

Get a baby sitter, take her out to dinner, then if finances permit, a motel for the night with spa in the room. Make a night of it and spoil her.

What girl wouldn't be wrapped with that? She may even let you join her.
