I love early morning starts... IN THE SUMMER!!!!
OK JAFAR curious to know what pub... by chance...sorry didn't make it have kids and work on thursday, might change when the wind cools down... sitting on a slop in a 80 yr old house makes for a drafty enviroment, bugger the bike tonight....![]()
Another good ride guys.. bit Nipplly out tonight....not to mention how draughty it was on the harbour bridge...at least I got a date for new years eve up Norf on the beach, worse part is she will have more clothes on than she did tonight..how will I recognise her???
Hope you made it out ok Marty.......
Good to meet you DidJit and waitup come along next week who knows what you will see.

it's the Patamahoe pub: not a bad pub but pretty bloody boring if you go there every week on much the same roads.
I've pretty much decided to give it up and the support I've had from other past SATNR riders on pm's and blings convinces me that the weekly outing to the same pub and the same roads is turning people off.
Next time I decide to go on a thursday night ride, i'll post on this thread an alternative ride for those bored with the same every week or who don't live in pukekohe or waiuku.
You guys who green blinged me; watch this space
We went an entirely different route from the previous few weeks & hit some roads that we have not been on for a while, sure there was only five of us, but the ones that DID come out on the ride had a night to remember, if not for the storm we rode into then for the entertainment provided by the establishment we visited.it wasn't the Village

cut the secret squirrel crap; it's tedious and smacks of exclusivity. if you want some of the other riders who have stopped coming to return, be open and can the 'club' attitude. the ride will probably have to become a ride again and not an excuse for a night at a pub.
`for me, stopping at a pub isn't even a priority, a cafe would be just as good.
the icing on the cake was the last ride for me; the one where the comments were that "we can't go east because the kaiaua road is covered in moss and is dangerous"
it was nonsense of course; i was disgusted. it signalled nothing less than a hijack
if the comments i've made subsequently have forced a change; great
however, you've pretty much lost me already
thursday night was started as a RIDE night; IMO the ride should take longer than the stop and the neither should ever become predictable.
OK,
you've seen my posts, i'm after a ride night not a drinking night. social activities do not demand alcohol and a cafe etc will do just as well
no secrets except the ride direction as we don't want the coppers watching and waiting as they seemed to do with the northern crew; ride routes will be discussed and suggested by pm and nailed down to a couple of ideas for discussion on the night
for the first ride the only 2 rules are these;
we don't go to patamahoe/waiuku and we don't stop at a pub.
those who wish to learn to ride better or set up bikes, post suggestions.
we can have a suspension setup night, a braking discussion, discuss the safest way to ride quick on the roads, how to avoid the fuzz or what to do when you get caught etc
we might even end up at the AMCC or have a guest rider of interest
its your ride; take control
Will we have to start saluting at any stage soon??? or maybe a secret hand shake will determine what ride you go on... this has been done to death... fuck I go for the ride and the company no one has ever said it must be the pady and the route is always changed.
And as for being “Disgusted and it being a Hijack” take a step back from the bike mister....
That night I understood the destination was what was being voted on, we could we have done the route you suggested and still have ended up where the “majority” wanted to go.
The last two weeks have been rides of over an hour on mixed routes and a lot of fun... its winter dark, cold, and sometimes wet and windy, like I said before at least we are out there doing it.
See you all Thursday.

nope; no secret handshake and no, it hasn't been done to death or i would not have received those pm's in support.
the fact is that too many past SATNR riders have been turned off and its easy to think that the ones who go are the only 'keen' riders without considering alternate reasons.
I'm essentially asking them why they don't come anymore and what they want to be different. I've certainly given my reasons and I'd like to hear others say their piece.
this ride thread does not belong to the few left, it belongs to ALL riders who want to ride south and the point is to bring them back even if that is on a different ride. If learners are intimidated, i'm on their side and they SHOULD have a ride of their own. if there are others like me who don't want to go to the pub every week and who want twice as much riding as they do stopping; WE should have the option
yes, the majority who were there the night of my last ride voted to go drinking at the paddy and that's the point; the riders turned off by the same ride, the same pub every week etc were not there to vote
so you've been on a couple of nice rides since then; why keep it secret? do you think that's gonna attract the riders who've given up on the SATNR?
if a significant # of riders signal that the status quo is not for them, that indicates there is need for a change or an alternative
your non sequiter doesn't work Korumba; just because i and others may not wish to go riding to a pub every week and spend twice as much time drinking as we do riding does NOT indicate that we are not interested in the social aspect of the SATNR; it just means we don't want to get in a rut and don't want to drink every thursday
I like the SATNR cause I can turn up when i'm able and go for a ride and put faces to names and hear a few stories.
I'm not fussed where or how far. Do like meeting at a pub but a cafe would do just like sometimes the Village or Kaiawa or Muddy does.
See you a a SATNR some Thursday in the future![]()

If the previous riders wish to come along then they will , if they are not there to vote on the destination then too bad, the ride is there for those that are there on the day,not for anyone else.
Seems more like your not getting what you want III & if thats the case then come along & put your case to the rest of us on the night, I don't care where we go so long as we do actually go.
The rides will get longer & the numbers will probably rise anyway as the warmer weather starts to bring more out of hibernation. Those that have been doing this ride come & go, there is no 'çlub' as such & we DO vary the route taken every week.
I'm not in favour of organizing the ride in advance my text/personal messaging, to me that sounds like the club mentality that you claim to oppose.
Noobie riders always have & always will be catered for on this & most other KB rides, thats how it is, however if III wants to have a 'fast' ride to somewhere that doesn't include them he is more than welcome to organize one & have it anytime he likes.![]()
