Yeah, a ride should be just that - a ride and everyone ending up at the destination point, no matter which order we all arrive in. Excellent day - thanks to Tony and Tina for a great ending

We had a lovely ride down HW 50 with Xan...thanks for your company, dude! I peeled off at Waipawa and headed home, cos I'm a soft old Nana, and I was toooooo , leaving John and Xan to ride to Patangata. I'm guessing they went a bit faster after that

CH, I beg to differ, if I go on a group ride then I want to ride with the group, not see their backsides heading off into the distance at warp speed, only to meet up again at the 'destination'. I may as well just ride on my own, if that is what it is about.
My fault I guess, for being so slow, but, hey, its not a race and there is no prize for being first (or last) to the destination.

Awesome ride yesterday. Great roads, great riders, good weather, no bacon.
Good to see the other Shirley there too, more chicks on bikes the better.

Nice to see you DR girl, now all you need is a road bike eh........I know you want to.

Today looks great too, but think I'll stay home and try and get the wog bike going.

Nah...I'm more about the Pace. You really should make the effort, get your 'L' and come for a ride. You'll learn heaps, enjoy yourself, and discover that it isn't 'all about the speed'.
If that is what some like...good on them...who's it hurting? Just not really for me.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Yeah, that is what I was trying to say. I agree, it is nice to ride as a group, and we do ride like that too. But at the end of the day, it is better for everyone to ride at their own pace and arrive safely then to not arrive at all. But have fun doing it. No one says you need to ride fast or not.

We have visted this senario time and time again but you no what they say about the tortoise and the hair. Even our other group use to go off and have a play but would always wait at some point.

    Just listening to the scanner.

Looks like a rider down on HW5, which is that, Wairoa or Taupo rd?

Said the guy's name over the air in communication between cops etc.
But I better not post it or the site Nazis will kick my ass.
Dunno how serious but tow trucks are on their way.
Seems he was on a Honda and I think it involved a car as well.

Just come back from up the Taupo road. Ice on the Te Harato hill just before the summit kiosk. North side. Still frozen A bike down and another parked next to it. Looked like a TL1000s on the tow truck at the kiosk when we came home but I really don’t know one bike from another. Both riders were standing up with Police parked either side as we went north. We went North about 1pm and had lunch at Tarawera. Really great food at a great price. Had a chat to the owners and found a lot of history going back 3 generations from people we new in common. Great people, great food and they will see us again soon.

Hope you all got out today and enjoyed the roads. Lotsa bacon and nearly went deaf with the beeper thing.
