Top purchase man. A friend and I were discussing this very bike the other day and decided that it was indeed the perfect bike for fun on the road and pretending we were 19 again. Except we wont have pimples and we will have girlfriends.
Alas, the demon of financial bastardry ensured our dreams would remain unfulfilled.

I really dig the 690... I'd have to agree it's the most capable street motard on the market, but I'm not exactly in love with the looks of it. Anyway, congratulations on the purchase I am sure there'll be many fun hours ahead on that thing... and when you are on it you won't have to look at it anyway.

(Yes, I am slightly envious - it's got more power than mine, it's most likely more comfortable and it has better fuel economy too.)

I too have noticed how the thread patterns are oriented opposed front and rear - I'd have to assume it has to do with the direction in which the tyre is delivering it's traction (rear - acceleration and front - braking). At least that's the hypothesis I'll stick with until I get to talk to a tyre designer.

Easy, thats second best. The 990SM is the best, because it also makes a reasonable tourer, oh, and wheelies are easier

You do have sliiiighty better fuel economy (read fucken heaps better)

Not me mate, I was down in Taupo, went down State 1 (account of black ice) and came back the preferred route via mangakino

When I saw that photo you posted I thought you had mistakenly assumed Quasi was meaning the track. That didn't look like any kind of road bike I'd want for a wart on my arse. A crucifixion might be only marginally less comfortable...
