Donno about the SSANZ, but the COLFO is a joke, they rolled over this lastest 'pistol grip' bollocks.

If you follow the links and check out the Save our Butts website you will see that neither of those two organisations are standing up to protect firearms license holders rights (which are currently under threat from Police). COLFO have decided that they do not get involved in domestic matters and that their focus is on the UN and international arms control.

The need for another organisation (to specialise in domestic firearms issues , litigation and advocacy) is so that you, your children and your grandchildren can continue to access their heritage and freedom to participate in sport shooting

    good reason ay !

A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

As a firearms owner, I'm more concerned about who else might access my "heritage", if I submit my name and address as required to an anonymous website.

I've signed up already, but you make a good point Virago. I'm sure Richard would keep the info under wraps but it would be interesting to see a privacy policy type document worked up for the association anyway.

The site I've posted is genuine. It is however temporary so it doesnt 'look' the part. We are currently working on the NSA website which should be up & running in a few days. The alternative is to sign up by sending me an email. from my site:

    http://frommycolddeadhand.blogspot.c...-open-now.html

No personal information will be given out. I am an IT systems professional and have secure servers at my business premisis. The membership role is kept in one secure file, not accessible to anyone but me personally. Anyone subscribing to 'Save our butts' will confirm that even the regular email update is always BCC to the membership. The NSA 'rules' (not to be confused with its constitution) are being drawn up at the moment... a very good point was raised here about a privacy policy. I will ensure that such a (tight) policy is adopted into those rules.

    Cheers
    R

Cmon mate, that sets off almost every possible alarm bell there is. No person in their right mind should put their private details into such a half-arsed attempt at collecting memberships - its daft.

That is such a common ploy on the internet - if you are genuine, you should shut it down immediately and stop putting your organisations' image at risk.

You are far too late. The police provided that information to the criminal fraternity when they supplied Trademe user details to people.

COLFO are sitting on their arses over this and should be more active. Unfortunately there are people at the top of the organisation who deal with police regularly and appear to have become a bit "friendly"...
