Well, I'm no cop, but I always thought Asians and Euros were the ones involved in bigger drug trades, and as far as I know, the drug business was doing pretty well in NZ before they had hordes of rockapes with bandannas to peddle them. So I'm going with this answer: For people with either no sense of their culture to feel they belong, or no sense of family at home, "gangster" combined with the "cool" reputation it has these days, must have seemed like a pretty good option.

Im no cop either (yet)........... I hear only recently have American gangs found a future in the drug trades in New Zealand so says a programe called "nz gangs". Using street gangs as their pawn in the game of chest, the asians are using panadol packets and fake prescription pill packets to hide drugs according to a recent study, same have been coming from America. NZ artists like Mrsicc who represents btdubs- a notorious otara street gang- is in America, speculation to consulting with gangs. Same as colourway records prominent gang rappers- who are all "killahbeez"- in America.

I want a gang too. Lets be the 'BMF' which stands for Bad Mutha Fuckas. We can steal people unopend mail and rob coke machines. Who wants in? I will even give out honorary badges to pin to our flannel shirts.
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.

Don't worry, I have uber awesome amazing ninja skills to draw upon in times of need. The general law of the jungle tends to dictate that those who don't look for too much shit wont generally find too much shit.

Yeah I have heard some stories about what some of the special forces blokes got up to when cleaning up the streets of Beirut. I wish we could take that approach here.

It has already occurred, and not with wannabe streetkids wearing bananas...

A council had to nicely ask the boss to "call off the dogs", as it were...
