When you say confirmed, they are still in the proposed rule section of the MNZ site. There is no where that I can see that states they are confirmed. Not picking points but if they are confirmed somewhere on the site can you post a link, and when does it say they wil be introduced?
Yeah I got the info from KiwiRacer.co.nz, I have a feeling they are a little more up to date in posting on their site.
http://www.kiwiracer.co.nz/mcsportnews.html , half way down.
Takes effect Jan 2010
I can't even get the MNZ site to work now hahaa.
So you can dick with the front end as long as you use OEM parts (springs/valves emulators but can't swap the complete cartridge and use any rear shock you want ?
Change the exhaust pretty much the whole thing apart from the headers, dick with cam timing, undercut the gears, change gearing (but use stock chain size and pitch) change the oil lines ??? add crash protection use an after market fuel tuning device but you have to use the stock airbox/filter ??
Man these things are not easy to read (and there are still references to priviteer cup in it)
I hope this is NOT the final form it is VERY rough.

I think the main point of these rules is that you don't HAVE to do any of it though, and you'll still be competitive, yes you could spend extra $$ on cam slotting etc, but now a rider can pretty much take a stock bike and be able to compete against very similar bikes in their own class. None of those allowable mods will gain much in net performance.
Having seen what the likes of Craig S can do on a stock engined Blade shows that the bikes are fairly capable as they are.............engine wise.
Stuff like undercutting is more for reliablity/peace of mind, everyone's prob heard about Biggles probs.
The way i'm looking at it all is that I know I can't beat the fast guys, i can't afford to be rebuilding top ends all the time, but now I can race with them without the big maintenance costs...............and have something to race for rather than being a tail end charlie on a lower spec'd bike.
Thats my take anyway.......................unless someone wants to supply a NZ SBK bike for me to play on![]()

Cheers for that Tony.
Until it is on the MNZ site, or I receive my letter in the mail regarding the changes to my class, i am still not going to rush out and tell people about it. You think that something this important and significant to racing in NZ would be mailed out to MNZ licence holders before it gets made public, that way they could guage interest in the class, let the riders themselves know to be able to plan etc.
I wouldn't be up with half the rules and changes if it wasn't for KB.
I hear ya.................tis only because I'm keen as mustard for it that I have been following it closely, emailing Paul Stewart and Pav, bikes already built to those rules so I'm screwed if it changes hahaa.
Receive a letter?..................I've been waiting 2 years for my rulebook haha.
Why the interest Shaun?
I think the winter series has shown that we're not staying home rather than race because of current economics.
And it's been a while since any class at the nats could be called a success numbers wise.
I think if it puts three more bikes on the track in the superbike races, let them have the three positions for their class.
Well I guess my bike would qualify for sports production stock production cup (that rolls of the tongue nicely ) as long as no one wanted me to reconnect the rear stop light switch (as per wiring harness section) cause it melted on the exhaust so I cut the wire off
Sadly unless my riding improves I won't qualify, but hey I've got the rest of the winter series and a few street meetings to get up to speed (or closer to the speed)![]()

What kind of support classes are usually run in nationals? Would me prehistoric bike fit anywhere?
Or do I need to find me a new bike/class?
I'd love to ride all the south island tracks once.

Yeah what I've been saying all along. The current economic situation has sfa to do with the low numbers. They have been low before when there wasn't a "worldwide recession". I wonder how the number fared back in the 30's during the great depression...
They won't kick you out unless you are rediculously slow. If you don't get lapped more than say 2 or 3 times in a 15 lap race you will be fine. The 115% (or whatever it is) threshold has (afaik) never been invoked at nationals. It is there incase the class is oversubscribed (tui??) or someone is dangerously slow.
I doubt they would do that again. Last year they had a twins class (because everyone wanted one) and only half a dozen bikes showed up. I think they should just have a bog standard clubmans at every meeting. That allows a bigger range of riders to come and ride just so they can be a part of the show.
Well i had planned on doing "Sports Production" (Privateers Cup) or maybe putting my lad on it.
But as i have just replaced the standard filter with a K&N (cos its cheaper & cleanable)
And just bought a selection of rear sprockets (in 520 pitch) cos they are cheaper and more readily available than standard 525)
Im not spending more money to go back to standard.
Two pointless rules i say.................. as almost everyone has to change a filter (for maintance reasons) and sprockets ( for optimum gearing).
So why do they have to remain standard.
So looks like the lad will be on our SV in either F3 or Pro twin if he wants to step up this season.![]()
