A gift for an american dude. Ideas needed.

Heya folks. I am in need of a good idea. I need some gifts for my friend and his family in the US. The dude is in mid fourties, has a 17 year old son and a 20 year old daughter. The budget is several hundreds.
I want to send him something from NZ. The first time was easier - I sent some greenstone stuff. This time I need something else. I don't mind a box with some misc stuff, but I don't want it to look cheap and I don't want to send anything he can buy in US. The dude fancies woodworking and is a medieval history buff and the kids are regular college kids. Ideas would be appreciated.

I gave some Canadian friends Greenstone carvings too.

    They loved them.

How about a carved wooden Patu or Taiha with paua inlay, and some bone carvings for the kids.

Petrified wood... polished and packaged. Friggen heavy though, and probably not cheap to post but...

Absolutely stunning to see the grain of the timber, inside a hunk of rock with a polished face.

Probably not a bad idea. Where can I source it?

3 or 4 kilograms of bacon flavoured lard and some orange cheese in a squirt tube should do it.

Another interesting idea. Do you know of any titles that you'd recommend?

Send them Barack Obama's birth certificate. That should make them happy.

Ngatea. Have no idea what the place is called, but it is gemstone place. It is signposted off SH2 on your way to the Coromandel. Seriously, it is really cool. I have some, amazing stuff. Rock that is rock, that is wood? If you want to see what it looks like before a trip to Ngatea whistle out.

How about some New Zealand music? Might appeal to 17 year old.

It is a bit tactless to talk of a rope in the house of a hanged man. He got suckered into voting for Obama and is really sorry for the resulting mess.
