    Did he do this
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out! Shouting, ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! '

You've checked the kill switch thing as suggested before!
and a loose or dodgy connection anywhere in the circuit!

    OK then here we go!
Firstly do you have spark at the plug when kicking it over with the plug in the cap an resting/earthing on the engine.
If not try a new plug
If still no spark cut the lead like I described and refit the cap try again! Having a good look at the old lead for breaks.
You could hold the end of the lead (using pliers) with the newly cut end 3mm from the plug while its in the head and see if spark jumps the gap when you kick it, as a test.
If you get spark another cap is needed!
If still no spark take the cover of the magneto side and make sure it isn't full of water and rust.
Pretty simple little tests that will eliminate alot of troublesome areas.

Then you might have to look at
the plug lead or coil or CDI or get someone who knows!
Best I can do over the net!

Done this, it's sweet Got spark, fuel is free flowing, and compression is good with lovely new piston and rings.

    Will try this, ta

Tried this as per clminties suggestion, it's all good in there.
Ta for help! What I'm worried about is when I try and kick it over it's gonna go and then I won't know what caused it to crap out twice - an unreliable bike is no fun.

0.2c - Getting spark so doesn't sound like kill switch - BUT they can cause intermittant probs when knocked about. The switch (on handlebar) is really quite flimsy inside. Mine was a bit manky when I pulled it apart to check, resoldered terminals etc but really better to replace if any doubt, They're about $25 i think.

OK so you've got spark at the plug. Is it a good fat blue spark or a barely visable thin thing?? Just because you can see some sort of spark doesn't mean its good enough to make it go? If its a good spark then Electrics may not be your problem unless the timing has gone way way off??

Secondly just because the fuel is free flowing out the hose doesn't mean its getting to the cyclinder. After a few kicks with the choke on or throttle open remove the plug does it look wet like the fuel is present?? You have just had it apart maybe if the electrics are ok there is some shit in the carb??
Dunno pretty hard over the net?

Yeah, it's probably fine but they can seem ok then play up. Made me think of it again because bike seems to be a prob when she falls off? Maybe the little plate that completes the circuit inside switch is getting jammed on then popping back again later.
Edit: Uh, I thought bike was going again but just trying to suss out why it stops?
