I haven't seen anywhere in this thread that they are removing passing lanes ... after all the recent work I would think that would be a silly idea. Although, I have no issues passing cars on yellows, as long as I remain on the correct side of the yellows as dictated by the law.

When redoing double yellows in the Wairarapa they have been making them "ribbed" (raised lines under the paint). Does anyone know if they have done this on the hill?

National / Labour socialists just can't help playing "BIG GOVERNMENT", destroying freedom for the majority because of the misdemeanour's of a few!

New Zealand is fast becoming a socialist police state, government control of every bloody thing!

Ironic isn't it: The only difference between Clark and Key, is a real dick!
Cripes OR you've just about repeated my sentiments with slightly different words - we must think alike

It seems to me that they could just widen the road so trucks can go round the corners in their own lane and save a lot of money in the process. Carving through the rock to remove corners completely seems overkill IMO.

And no, you are wrong. *555 and 111 calls exempt.
Where have they said *555 is exempt? I'd heard it was emergency calls only.....

Been looking... http://landtransport.govt.nz/rules/q...le-2009.html#1 ...and *555 could certainly be considered 'emergency', at least in some cases.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

I may just sit on the hill with a camera and 555-ing all the trucks that stray over the sacred yellow lines on the tight corners. That would be every one of them. Interested to see what feedback I get from the Plod about that

    Unhappy

Common sense hasn’t stopped many f$#@wits overtaking on blind corners up on the hill so I don’t see how paint is going to change anything.

Cover the plate or get a flip up one like an old mate of mine had on his ZZR1100...silly bugger
    .

Being a very very old bugger, I can remember as youngsters living in Masterton how we used to race from bridge to bridge on our bikes....mostly Triumps, BSA and Matchless, fun days and we did live to tell tall stories about it...grin

slow-arse congested hill full of worked up traffic... unpatient people brewing and curseing while trailling behind...
Shitty dust and stone throwing from roadworks...

They all hit the passing lane together.. crazy driving trying to pass..... late passing voiding the oncoming traffic on the other side because of irrational urge building.... following too close... sheep following sheep passing running out of lane gravel and debris on the corners, cattle shit stretched for km's at a time..

    Summer 09 baby!
    holding the line...

So. The Yellow Paint Monster has moved south!

He attacked a large area south of the Bombay's some time ago...

Impact? Very little for bikes. Keep left of the yellow line and you are still legal.

As long as you don't cross the second one then nobody can truthfully state that you actually crossed double yellow lines, can they?

I've used it as an extra lane in the past. The cat's eyes are a bitch though.
