I'm curious as to wether the 180 tyre made your bike easier to turn??
I'm guessing you have a 5.5" wide rim.
Wouldn't a 190 tyre on a 5.5" rim be more vee'd in shape. I though that would make the 190 quicker to change direction.
Your opinion would be much apreciated.
I guess there are a number of variables in your bikes geometry that can make you faster in the corners.
I had tried 180 profile rears on the back at a track day a few months ago and the bike just felt more......nimble for lack of a better word. I wouldnt be the best person to explain it but maybe it feels quicker because the curvature is smaller so your rolling off the balance point of the tyre in less time. Some here would argue that it makes no difference but sometimes what you think alone is enough to make you go faster even if in reality there is no difference.

I think your question is a whole nother thread mate.

Hmmmm dunno about that - with the lightening speeds of the boys like ScuzeMe are getting up to, I think I'll stick to my job marshalling ha

I think there is a whole other thread on it if you search in the tyres or racing section, not to mention more than one on every bike forum on the internet

…but yeah I agree with you Darrin, I made the same change as you and the 180 did feel heaps more nimble. The bike seemed to cut a much nicer line than with the 190

Heaps of top guys go for the 190s it seems, but I liked the feel of the 180 much more on my old CBR

That was a brilliant performance Darren!

I've read your blog entries and like you philosophical approach to your riding.
It's such a mind game and I think half the battle is done in your head the night before the race.

    Catch ya next round!

Very good effort indeed mate. I was gutted when you got past phil and he held me up. I could see an epic battle about to emerge. Any way, bring on the next round. Hope scracha lets me borrow his bike again.

Mate, all honestly, you were untouchable! I had no answer for you in the F1 races....you just pushed that secret 'fuckoff' button on yamakasi and buggered on outta there! Well done bro and you completely deserved the position you got. You realize of course I will now no longer be giving you ANY advice!

Well done and well deserved placings !! You were really on fire all day making the most of the good grid positions.

I had no answer really not that I was anywhere close to you all day. Obviously lack of sleep and lots of partying the night helped your performance.. although I don't think it would help me

See you at round 6 in Oct.
