Gearbox sprocket cover, excess oil

I tried out a Scottoiler about a month ago and stopped shortly afterwards because it made a mess. Even when I backed it off to one drip every 90s.

Anyway I have had a slow but constant oily discharge from around the cover that goes over the sprocket that attaches to the gear box. I keep watching the engine oil and I'm not loosing any.
I also started having a greasy substance start appearing on the inside wall of my rear tyre on the same side as the chain. I'm confident it is excess lubrication coming off the chain.

So today I decided to take the cover off the gearbox sprocket and take a closer inspection, just in case I have a gasket failing, or a leak from somewhere else.

Talk about a mess. The hole area was all gunged up. There were stones stuck in and around the sprocket.
Cleaned it out with kerosene. Now to wait another week and check it again to make sure there is no leak.

Hopefully it is the left overs from the Scottoiler. Either that or I have an oil leak, or I am putting way too much chain lube on. I never experienced any issues prior to using the Scottoiler.

Could actuallyt be the "Irish Oiler".
This is the term I use for a leaking Output Shaft Seal.

Mine has one...
Cleaning up the mess to confirm was a good idea.
