[QUOTE=Gixxer 4 ever;1129397296]Sounds like my type of riding group. There might be an opportunity to set up a slow riders group again. Most of our former slower riders have jumped to the fast group… aye GQUOTE]
...or just stopped doing group rides altogether...
I was thinkinga long those lines too, Steve, especiallly now that the warmer weather is here
I miss the group rides, but just don't want to be a part of a fast ride. I can't keep up and end up on my own anyway so may as well just start out that way.

'Fast', 'Slow', whatever pace, its all fun, lets get out there and ride.
Stuff the labels.
Quite often I find the mood one is in determines whether one wants to be a 'fast' or 'slow' rider on the day.
Of course its easy to be swept up in the pace of the company you're with for the ride.
But generally I like to give it heaps, but thats me, always been like that, each to their own. I feel my riding has improved over time by riding at a brisk pace, and of course track day tootling, but of course some may disagree, especially the bacon.
And Steve.........you're no slow poke mate.
As for G........well, the older he gets the more crazier he is.........
Speaking of rides, anyone up for a mid weeker next week.
Thinking of maybe tootling down to the Hutt next Weds?
Need to talk to the Duc dealer about summit, so thought might take the day off and ride.
But don't have to go there, but am thinking of a good ride for the day, say 9-10ish till 4?
But I can't do fast, Dooly!
I'm an old slowpoke.....

All you said is good and is how it is.
I have entered in to this debate many times. I am happy to arrive at the venue/regroup point, first or last or late. No big deal for me. I like to go fast but at the moment I am happy to go slower. So that’s good for me. I love riding. I also look forward to spending time with the people I meet here and on bikes in general. Point in question, we meet a couple last weekend at Tarawera from down south. Had a great chat for an hour while sitting in the sun not far from the snow. I find riders to be a great group of people to spend time with. I also understand why Tart feels like she does. There is no one answer and I tried to pull the two groups together years ago and found the fast group needed to go fast and the slow group felt intimidated. Frustrating for me cos I recon we can have fantastic rides if we could get everyone to come along as we have in the past. Round the lake, ANZAC day 2 years ago, protest rides etc etc. So keep posting rides and it is for everyone to choose what rides they come on. When I get more time I will organise rides for a slower group and then if the fast riders want to come along cool. Just go ahead and we will catch up in time. So there will be plenty of rides on for the summer. Get your bikes out and sorted for the summer.
Two groups can coexist. It will work, as people will go with the group they feel suits them best and the two groups can come together as often as possible or as a ride allows. As long as we never adopt the “ them and Us” attitude we will all have a great summer. There is no reason why a group ride has to have people riding on their own.
Hey Steve, stop making sense.![]()
Moo wants to go back to the Phillip Island, so bad. Might have to consider a return trip soon. How many would be interested in booking a house on the Island and going to the track for the 2010 Moto GP?
You would have to front up with the bling as a none refundable deposit around Christmas time I would think to pre pay for the house. We stayed on the Island in a nice house with 8 others and it cost us $80.00 a day per person. Everyone has to get in and do the cooking , cleaning etc. You really have to be able to live with others for 3 days and pull your weight but it worked so well for us. Anyone interested ?![]()
