That's a seriously good deal. I paid $4k for mine and it had done 28000km! The XR600's are wonderful hard-core dirt/adv bikes... Lighter and more grunt than a DR650 (comparing to my mates which is an 07) but not as smooth on the road and kick start of course.

I'm needing to sell mine as I need to get a tourer and can't afford both so if anyone is interested flick me a pm. Just had the top end redone - $1000 receipts. Comes with standard tank plus large one, pack rack, spare set of road legal knobblies. I'd like to get close to $4k for it if possible.

oh well i wasnt far off, my guess was 39.85hp at the rear wheel. but that was only at a glance though

I can tell at a glance but hearing it as well gets it more accurate.

Got it all sorted. It was you area of expertise...

I got lost finding the dyno room... No wait... The other area...

The PSU was only putting out 13.8v instead of 14.8-15.3v and it basically wasn't enough voltage to keep the O2 sensor up to temperature during a run where the exhaust gases cool it down.

Got it up to 14.78v and it's a lot more reliable.

I asked the exact same question @ thunderbike when I had the Triumph dynoed, they said "YIP" buts it's pretty hard on em, best to use an old one.
FYI Trumpys got about 104 hp
