From what I can see the actual undie 500 team were very well behaved and were parked up in a controlled fashion quite early.

Their event apparently was a successfully accomplished!

The "ugly 500" on the other hand carried on for two nights creating mayhem where ever and however they could.

I don't think that the two activities appear to be really related.

Watching the TV1 news tonight, it appears to me that the police and the Dunedin Mayor (Chin) are blaming the wrong event and the wrong people!

For once in my life I have to say that the Students Union representative from Otago university made the most sense!

I think I agree with the Canterbury Chancellor too!

It is Otago University and the Dunedin police that own the problem and they need to get their act together and take responsibility for the problem!

Only then will they be able to clean up the "Otago university" "ugly 500" act, once and for all!

From the rallys we have been to there would be no need for the cops, if a bunch started to fuck up it would be sorted quick as...In saying that we all go to socialize and enjoy the time, not go with the intention to create others grief...

Seeing as so many seem opposed to bean bags, rubber bullets and tazers being used on students....that leaves only one effective solution.......rubber ball claymores (the kind they use outside embassies).

That's nothing new, at least the media have stopped picking on 'boy racers' for now.

maybe chuck an ambo at each end too, the more onto it ones would drag out any injuries im sure.
You give the cess pit that is todays youth too much credit. I know, why dont the police throw some crips and bloods into the riot, high on meths with some samurai swords. That way they save on pepper spray.......ooh using cultural minorities (or the way nz youth is going - majorities) as weapons....imagine the pc brigade hearing bout that.

Just bad luck for those other residents in the street, though, eh...?

And all the property owners whose homes are wrecked in the frenzy of mindless vandalism...?

Perhaps you can tell that to the owners of a block of flats in Castle Street, whose tenants were ripping the gib-board off the walls to use as fuel for the fires...?

    Not stupid? Gib-board doesn't burn...
