For once, well, not for once, but on this occasion, I agree with Shaun.
The Pro-Twins class was created to allow newer type riders without large budgets a place to race.
Jay is one of the best riders in NZ and it sort of negates the purpose a bit in my eyes for him to be racing in this class, Hyosung or not.
BTW, they aren't a total pig either. Perhaps not the flashest, but not so crappy.
But, in the end they are all entitled to make their own decisions about what to do, so good luck to them and let's hope his luck is better than last year.

Marketing is marketing Steve and if an importer backs a rider in any class i along with you im sure support the imput they make to the sport.
if a Jap bike is allowed to win all the races thats no fun but a Hyosung with a rider like Jay is a thing to watch.
SVs have a domminance so far so lets get a few alternative brands running like the Kwaka (as mentioned earlier here) and turn it into a real race series.
If Hyosung are serious then the attempt will not be half assed , if it is H/A then why bother.
Go Jay , I still owe you a ride anyhow .
Paul.
Good onya Jay. A 'factory' ride is a factory ride, don't matter what it's on.
And anyways, if the bikes themselves are as bad as people say, what is it going to say about those that finish behind Jay in the same class but on higher spec or more accepted machinary?

Well done and good luck Jay.
Dont think he will have it all his own way.........but he will certainly ruffle a lot of feathers.:
Imagine hyosungs new ad with a 650 backing it in all sideways......... might not sell bike to their chosen market but good for the grin factor.
And it will be great for the newbies/learners to have another great rider to learn from.
My lad may well be in pro-twin by the nats and he thinks its great (he is a bit of a Jay fan )
And well done Hyosung..shame a few more distribuers/manufactures dont get involved at this level too.![]()
Well I think this is bloody brilliant news! Jay is obviously a great racer as we all know and Its a credit to Hyosung to have secured him to represent their brand on the track...well done! Whilst I hear what people are saying re the F3/pro twins being a 'start out' class I would have to say I think it has moved on from that since its inception. I mean, Glen Williams is hardly a beginner! Hyosung have a 'hyosung race package' for thier bikes which unless I'm mistaken is a first for a factory brand in NZ. Its a trend I hope other manufacturers take :-)
Their has been some greats in F3 and it is far from a beginners class! It is more what suits your budget. Not everyone can afford a set of tyres a race. look at the names there has been and more to come if Jays name goes on the list good for him he's in good company
Fitzgerald
McMurdo
O'Connor
Love
Ward
Sprozen
McAdam
Coombes
Sprago
Williams
Lattimer
Armes
Cudby
And if Robert Holden hadn't lost his life at the IOM that year in 1995 he was coming back to have some fun in F3 too
It's not what you ride but how you ride it!!
Good shit i say !! Hyo obviously want to improve their image ! What better way than to have a talented rider take it as far as possible at the Nats !!
Well done Jay ! Will be cheerin ya on Mate !
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"
Bowls can wait !
It will do a lot for the spectator side of things, I know ill be going to have a look.
Pro-Twins was not created for the newbie riders without large budgets (otherwise the rules for that class would have been very very different)
Thumbs up Jay, - lifting the level requirement of the class is a good thing and riders of your calibre will attract the class even more attention / exposure. There are some pretty quick fellas in PT already..........
I do have one rule though....... I never ride a bike brand that has a name that i cant pronounce properly ......
Glen
What has Pro-Twin got to do with F3?
They are two totally different and separate classes. Some bikes may look similar but they perform completely differently. F3 is a playground for your imagination where the rules are few and far between whereas you could write the allowed machine mods for Pro-Twin's on the back of a cigarette packet with a permanent marker.
About the same relationship as Supersport to F2 or Production Superbike to F1. You can ride the former of these in the latter but not the other way round! I believe Protwin riders results should be included in F3 results!
The Hyosung GT650 did have some bad points when they first came out that there was no getting around when the protwin rules came out. This made them not as competitive a package as the SV650 for Protwin racing.
As far as the powerplant goes they make more power (79) than the SVs (72.5) according to published spec sheets (whos bullshitting here?) but any real advantage is offset by the overall weight of the machine.
It will be interesting to see if Jay can get one of these bikes to be as competitive as an SV.
I see no problem with Jay riding one in protwins. It seems to be pretty much the same as when Karl Morgan rode and dominated on the Clee prepped SV650. Karl was making a comeback from illness.
Whats dissapointing about Protwin so far is it has been a class thats been dominated by one rider each year as hasn't attracted the numbers or close racing that one might have expected.
Jay if you need some fairings made I'm pretty sure GJH fibreglass here in PN has the moulds from when Tahana Parker raced and got all the bodywork moulded.
Good luck Jay it will be interesting!
