I know the coastal road is good, but heard not so great things about the inland route. Would probably just go coastal there and back personally.

    Hope for good weather

Yeah did leader valley and south of waiau and the only place requring more care was in the leader valley with some grit. Otherwise the inland route is pretty worth it.

    Have a goodun

Did it twice over the last few weeks.
There is some grit (always is) and some road works (has been for the last few years after the floods and slips), but is ridable a safe.
Just do not go flat tack in to blind corners and you will be fine.
If wet be careful of some clay on the roads and small very short parts that a dirt (clay).
These could be repaired and be tar sealed by now.
Feel the fear and do it anyway

895 main north road is a pub called the PEG (stands for something) this is the common meeting place for rides up north or onto the Canterbury flats.
