results are always linked from the front page after a round. We have our own upload area from MyLaps which is Integrated into the site, so results for all the VMCC rounds are to hand. See the 'Racing' page
I think James Hoogie did consistent low 27's all weekend with a 27 flat to take the official lap record.
But I'd believe the true lap record would be much lower than that. Cos james only got the bike as a borrowed hack of mine at the last minute. He hasn't ridden a 150 2s for 18 months, this was his third time only at Manfeild. The bike has crap tyres and a slow motor. And he looked like he was cruising...
Really, if you take a percentage ratio formula of the south island tracks to compare F3 / 125GP lap records and Streetstock lap records the Manfeild record would look like the following
1.23 if compared to Ruapuna
1.20 for Levels (makes sense, tight and technical)
1.25 for Teretonga (wide open long straight)
So I think the theoretical limit for SS would be around 1.23 or 1.24 round Manfeild
And, interesting enough, all the SI records were done by 14 year olds, maybe James, at 18, is too old and past it!
James Hoogie IS old. He's seen as the "elder statesman". He can ride SS in the North but down here our club rules would have him booted out of Streetstock as he's told experienced and OLD. Even a lot of our 16 year olds aren't eligible now, and certainly not eligible for the Sportzfotoz cup for example.
If the (NZ) sport has a competitive worldwide future it lies with development of Young Junior Road Race (10, 11, 12 year olds) We've used it with great success in the South Island (how else would you get a 15 year old NZ Champion) I can't understand why the NI won't wake up and use it too.
Ok i'm going to dredge this up again, seeing i have a young guy (mates son) who's hanging to have a go at road racing ! Already making a very good name for himself in MX !
As i understand it there is a rule where he cant ride race tracks till he reaches 14, am i correct in assuming this ? Or is there a way we can get this young fella in some leathers earlier ?
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"
Bowls can wait !
Cheers Hells, could have been 13 i heard now i think about it !! Billy's just turned 12 but wants out on the track now !
Sat down with his old man over the last couple of nights at taupo (doing a trackday at our respective tracks) and worked out we might be able to come up with a bike for him between us !
Way i look at it if the kid wants in and the parents are good with it, why wait !

What day and time ? They're in levin ! If it aint snowing and cancelled i might just bring him up for a look !! Don't think they're racing this weekend, He aint got any gear apart from MX ATM, but be well worth him having a sqizz at the buckets !!! Little prick wants to have a shot on my 675 lol, he recons "just put some blocks at the start line, i'll do the rest" haha talk about squid, he must be all of 40 kg !

Young junior road race. 10 years and older
Miniature Road race. 13 years and older
Streetstock. 13 years and older
It's all in the rule book.
So long as the MNZ permit notes the running of these classes, the young ones can ride, but obviously in an environment safe for them. In the South we run Young Junior Road Race as part of our heavily supervised Training Class
