Not wishing to appear too iggerant, I'm kicking off this thread on the pretence that I've done much searching and investigating and have found what looks like the ace backpack for my needs, namely the unit referenced in the title of said thread. That was quite a long sentence. I'll try not to do that again.

Any-who, I was hoping some knowledgeable KBer will be in possession of the skinny as to where I might look at one in the flesh, or at least, buy one in these fair isles.

The deafening silence implies the worst - I shall have to buy online from Oar-Stryl-Ya, sight unseen then. Seems they have a realistic return policy at any rate so can't be all bad.

I'll construct a mini review, minus any hint of flippancy naturally, once received and tried, in the event that it's of interest to others at KB. A good backpack can be a wonderous thing.

I've got an R25. Tis excellent and very comfortable because it's not dragging on your shoulders and neck. A smidgen too small for a weekend away and expensive. I got mine straight from the UK.

Ill probably get an R35. Had to leave my rainsuit behind on the last trip around the East Cape... and it rained.

Ive used an r25 for the past few months and have done around 10,000kms on the bike with it and they are a great product. Barely even notice it on your back and its amazing how strong the zips are because Ive had mine wedged with clothes and all sorts without a problem

Great stuff - except the raining thing of course - many thanks for your reply. They're bloody expensive but they carry a 10 year warranty so I'm thinking that's a good trade-off.

I'll let you know how the buying from Oz process goes if you're interested.

Coolio. I read a bunch of reviews online and they agree with your take on the comfort of the pack - the strap system seems to take the load off the shoulders and as you point out, you're not really aware you're wearing a backpack. I sure hope it's true, but real world experience from the likes of yourself is as valuable as any other source.

Does the bag have a harness system like the kriega gear. The biggest complaint from riders I meet is the straps cutting in and placing a lot of stress on shoulders and under arms. If it does have a harness system then that looks like an epicially good back pack.

Oh and whats that stowaway roll up back protector like?

I have a US20, 2 x US10's and a R20 Back pack and can't rate them highly enough.

Can pack all my gear away for extended trips and so far bullet proof. Yes maybe a tad expensive but well worth the money...

Very secure, very comfortable, waterproof. Why spend more?
