Your helmet will not hit his so long as you are looking over the shoulder of the corner he is taking.
wow im missing out on all the good threads atm so not cool im getting stuck on the lame ones lol!!
mmm hold on to me, rub me grind me and then wham crash!
I used to pillion quite a bit on a gsxr750. I just used to pretty much hug him the whole time and put both my hands on the tank to take my weight if I needed to. He used to think I was trying to feel him up cos of where my hands were... lol. Didnt bump helmets much either.
It was a Thousand and I thought you where only on there for the sausage!

I used to pillion on an sv, which might be a similarish position.
I found holding on to the bar at the back was no good, because I'd still only be anchored at one point essentially.
I also tried the hand/s on the tank and found that ok for when he was breaking, but I could only just reach with my fingers so they got a bit sore, and Neil wasn't particularly comfortable with me doing that either.
If he were wearing a backpack I'd hold on to the straps near his hips, or if he was just wearing his jacket, that had convenient straps on the side to tighten the jacket. Holding on to those meant that I could brace myself better for acceleration/deceleration. These days I'm happy with just my hands on his hips, but at first I really needed the handle.
As for the helmet clunking, to be honest, that stopped when he got used to riding a bit more smoothly when I was on the back. It was more him than me.
Getting used to his riding style will also help, though, so that you can anticipate when he'll go zooom, and activate your core muscles a bitOh, and holding on with the thighs is also very useful to hold you in place.
Of course, mostly I ride my own bike now. It's just if I'm picking mine up from a service or something that I'll pillion![]()
Get a buddy belt. Large wide belt with loop handles on it that you can grip and it's ideal for when braking and accelerating and is low down and comfortable for both rider and pillion.
Motomail does them I think. Pretty darn good for all around pillioning.![]()
If the destination is more important than the journey you aint a biker.
