Hey chaps (n ladies), it's been a while, hope you're all well.

So I'm talking to BabyB a couple of days ago and she informs me that some mod has taken it upon themselves to deposit our beloved thread in PD! WTF!?

Unfortunately I'm pretty busy so it's taken a few days for me to get here to check things out.

Firstly I'm glad to see that it's been dredged out of PD atleast.

I've read thru the various post/threads on this discussion and gotta admit I'm a little disappointed at some people's reactions. There are complaints that no warning was given, and yet I see Nasty posted a warning in the Tga thread about her intended actions... admittedly I don't know the time frame between the warning being posted and action being taken.
Further to this, it appears noone (with the exception of karen) seems to have really treated the warning seriously. Instead many chose to ignore it or react like kids.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not the biggest fan of a few of the mods here myself. Hitcher's been spouting utter crap since I've been here, and I see nothings changed. I've found he's best just ignored/avoided as he's relatively harmless, just leave him be n let him stroke his ego with that mod hat. As for Nasty, she's a relatively new mod as far as I'm aware and my only dealings with her have been my 1st, and only, infraction and warning ... I get the image of that fat kid with joe90 glasses and acne that we all picked on at school. She's finally got some power and now it's time for us to pay!

But seriously, the fact remains that they are mods, and we have to respect that. Like it or not this place needs mods or the animals will all run wild (or just run themselves and we can't have that!)... and I can't be fucked doing it, I'd rather have a life. So let's be thankful for them.

Here's a tip, when dealing with mods, reason with them, you need to make them see that it's a good idea to leave the thread as it is. (and try to refrain from calling them names).
This is what I did when Quasi threatened to bin the thread back in 2006. As soon as I saw the warning he posted I pm'ed him. Why pm? Mainly because you avoid having all the idiots fucking shit up as they invariably do in an open forum.... here's the pm I sent him:

What I propose is that rather than deleting it, or sending it to PD, i'll edit my first post, warning people that there is no need for them to read the countless pages of drivel that follow. And to either just turn up on the night, or skip to the latest and greatest on the last page.

The thread has become a place for the tga crew and some of our associates to talk among each other without starting up numerous other threads and shit. This has the added benefit of keeping the thread near the top of the pile where it can be found by newcomers as well as show them that thursday nights are still alive and happening.

    How bout that mate?

    cheers
    Mark
So has anyone actually discussed these points civily with Nasty? I'm sure she'll be a fair person if you treat her with some respect... hopefully. Quasi gave us some requirements we had to meet, and we did so. Be aware, he also did explain to me that technically our thread was against the rules, however he'd give us some leeway.

As we're all aware, the Tga Thurs night thread has proven to be a successful formula it's been going for 3 1/2yrs now, and from just 5 or 6 of us the crew has grown to the point where after two yrs away from the scene I only know half of you!

Unfortunately the mods seems to think that strict coherence with the rules is more important than succeeding in KB's original mission.

I was going to plead my case to 'the big boss', but from what I've read the damage is already done... and even if we did succeed it'd only be for another year or so until we had to go thru the whole process again when another newbie mod decides it doesn't conform to the rules. I see Karen's placed a new meeting thread with a link to the original... shame it's already getting buried, but not much we can do about that... unless the mods will make it a sticky maybe? *Cajun?

I will PM Nasty and ask her to change the thread's name back to what it was. I don't see any need for it to have been changed, and this way the newbies will still find it no matter where it is.

That means the only difference is post count/bling. But as I know most of you aren't noobs that give a shit bout that crap anyway so it doesn't matter (except for nodroj but he can go cry on his mummy's apron for all I care).

Chins up fullas, if the crew can survive our pub going bankrupt, and losing our most valued member when he moved to europe, this ain't gonna matter.

    Peace out.
It's just one of those days, where you don't wanna wake up,
    everything is fucked, everybody sucks,
You don't really know why but you wanna justify ripping someone's head off

I have checked thru all the posts and can only find this one (let me know if i have the wrong one or have missed another) - and im not saying i speak for everyone:

Please try and keep this one to Meetings and Events - helps those new to the site as well.

    Cheers
As you say above, you didnt know the time frame... ill give it to you. Her warning was posted after it happened: This is not a warning of the thread being split up.. this is a notification that the thread has been split and a warning that we should toe the line - and yes, most of us reacted like kids and just stomped our feet etc... but not without good reason (we are all kids anyway!). What fucked me and other people in the tga crew off was that there was no discussion!

All I got from that was "We have decided this and that is that" (but said a little nicer, shit still stinks whatever you call it) - this on one of the largest and most visited thread on KB!! WTF? Why not approch this with a little more respect and intelligence - the same thing they are asking. How about a "Hey tga crew!, we really need to do this etc" - everyone would have been fine with that! (it has been discussed quite a bit!!). No wonder everyone reacted like little kids - as that was the way we were treated!

But the other thing that really fucked alot of lots of us off (and i mean REALLY) was that there where posts in that thread that discussed rides and things that happened on rides that were moved to "Rant and Rave". As an example: One of those posts happened to be about 2 missing riders from Sundays ride and the fact that everone was happy they were alright etc etc. Important fucnk stuff if you ask me - and about the Sunday "RIDE". -but it was moved to RR. See here for an example list from babyb: http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...post1129429671

Anyway, i think Nasty went about this the wrong way and should have invited replies before making her decision - if she had of done that there would have been a little bit of moaning, but thats all. But as you note - the damage has been done! There there is only one other way to vote in this communist state - with your feet.

So therefore most regular tga poser crew posters have taken our conversions about our meetings, events, rides and all the bullshit we blather on about elsewhere (come on in and join us, the water is warm).

dont forget there was her post about the choices.......
NOTE it was only put in 1 of the 2 threads she split which got me confused.
also i cannot find where its gone
asked Mom if I was a gifted child ... she said they certainly wouldn't have paid for me.

yes - but i still come back to the same thing: All done after the fact:

We have done this. You have two choices:

    1). Like it.
    2). Lump it.

Granted it wasnt like that, but this is the end result. You either like what we have done or tough luck.

Oh BTW: Not saying that 2much's post is not welcome or anything silly like that

Thanks greminn, That puts things into perspective. And with that knowledge then I totally agree with you, the reactions were definitely justified.I guess I gave the mod in question the benefit of the doubt, hard to believe someone in that position could be such an arrogant fuckstick and come in here making changes without at least first discussing it with the group.

Sadly it's shit like this that is killing KB, and a large reason why I hardy ever frequent the place any more. Itīs only the many friends Iīve made on here, and the fact I wish to keep in contact with them that keeps KB on my bookmarks list. Otherwise I would gladly leave it in my wake as itīs no longer what it used to be.

Short of a mass protest with a call for Nasty's mod powers to be removed (like that'll ever happen), I think you've made the right move in starting your own site. I wish you luck as I know quasi found it hard with sportsbike, but I expect as KB continues to deteriorate more people will be in need of an alternative. Iīll definately be dropping in to test the water (Karen already gave me the link)... letīs just hope winga stumbles across it to add to the fun.

At the moment the new site is just for the poser crew and friends thereof, I dont think we need another kb...

Perfection is not something you should ever attain, but something to always strive for. For if we actually achieve our idea of perfection, is it then any longer perfect?
