    the fatigue.

the hill top is much the same sort of roads (if not in better nick) than what we've been riding recently.

the difference is there's a ride out along the flats, which for newer rider will seem to go on for ages, if it's windy (which it almost always is on a bike) then it can create discomfort and uneasyness.

to be honest turning around at little river is detrimental to your motorcycling because you've ridden all that way along straight boring bits, all uncomfortable and stuff, turn around and do it all again, get home and go "well shit, that wasn't worth half a tank"

you're much better to press on to duvauchelle, enjoy the hill and the sense of accomplishment, get home with a 3/4 empty tank and feel as though you've achieved something and had a great time doing it. oh but you'll be exhausted. sleep well though...
Agree with ya. We're flagging tonite , save the babysitter for another time. safe ride

Yes, if it had ever changed then post #1 would have been updated to suit.

    Bummer :(

We couldn't make it tonight after all!! Bent51s' tiger started spitting oil out when he got here, Tiger sprung a leak and has been 'ambulanced' back to town.
Dissapointed children and adults! Hope you all had a great ride.

Reason for us to stop at Little River was due to bringing kids and living in Rangiora, no point in a HUGELY late school night!

My opinion on the whole "to go over the hill or not" debate is that everyone should do the ride that suits them, challenge yourself when your safest and most comfortable (not always ideal in a large group) and look out for each other Take care out there... and see you next week... fingers crossed!!
    Cheers

Awsome! best ride so far... should not have left it till now to start riding. Glad I went over the hill...didn't find any demons and the ride back was fantastic. Only thing is, past an Ambulance on the way back heading towards Little River. Hope we all got back safe.

Can't wait for the Greymouth ride now.

Safe and sound here! The ambulance passed me in Halswell, hopefully like Tupelo says, everyone is safe!?

Thanks to the Tail End Charlie, sorry I don't know your name, for sticking with me and all the tips you gave me. Felt more confident on the way back even with that wind!

A fire rescue truck went out from Little River, however it turned off at Birdlings Flat and headed down a back road. Assuming that was where the ambo was headed also, then it was nothing to do with us.

Great ride. I counted about 45 bikes at the carpark

Same thoughts when I saw the ambulance just out of Tai Tapu, hope all made it safely home.
Just after that came up behind a dumb arse truck no tail lights, bit scary with a bug massacre on the visor..

Westpac heli just flew over me and landed at the hospital now but we never saw any cops racing out after or before the ambo so assumed it was not a road accident and nothing to do with us.

    already bren?

    gret ride everyone.

the fire emergency truck screaming out of little river, lights flashing and siren whirring gave me a scare, it turned off at the birdlings flat access road and zoomed down there, then we saw an ambo by the black tulip lights flashing, and finally a helicopter heading over....

I assume it wasn't any of us as we saw no cops.

hope everyone is alright and pete got home alright (dont worry man, I did it when i first bought the zxr)
