My brief;

Spies will struggle in MotoGP..................initially
JT will be on the pace in WSBK............straight away
Haga will be contending for the title.......as always
Burn will get a competative ride on a Duke ;-) Cant belive I used to race with this guy!!!
I rekon the Brits will do well next year in WSBK.

Here's what i found.

"According to the new rules,(2008), twin-cylinder motorcycles would be 6 kg heavier than four-cylinder machines (168 kg to 162 kg) and would also have a 50 mm air restrictor fitted.
The weight limit and the intake-restrictor size of twin machines would be updated, if needed, during the Championship, by a system analysing the race points obtained."

I'm not sure on the air restrictor,but IMO,it would want to be comparitively restrictive,as 6kg seems like a small price to pay for 200cc of capacity.

Not taking anything away from Haga,as i like him too,but i do struggle coming to terms with Ducati being allowed to have 20% larger engine capacities then any other marque.

I used to really like Duc's,but i've gotta say,that i think they should have they same restrictions as everybody else,and stop acting like spoilt brats that have to have it their own way!

Unless you wanna see a grid full of 4 cylinder bikes get used to the idea that twins need to be bigger than 4's to be competitive. A 1000cc twin only has the same valve area as a 750cc 4, hence the earlier 750cc 4 vs 1000cc twins regs. Valve area = hp, simple as that.

This spoilt brat stuff is just a load of shite too. They can't be competitive with 4's of similar capacity without spending several times as much $$$ (ultra short life on over stressed components) so if that's what they are forced to do they'll be gone. Nothing spoilt brat about it, it's just simple economics.

If you want true equality you'd have to have a series full of independently prepared one make, one tyre, one suspension bikes etc etc which would be kinda bland I reckon. On the other hand I reckon the series is that much more interesting with twins, IL4's V4's etc. Vive la difference!

Toseland won't be any good? Are you nuts? Haga won't run for the title., his head is screwed. He will crash lots and big in the first few meetings and then retire at the end of the year.

I didnt say he wont be any good I said he could not adapt to it as easy? but I doubt it I think he will be good

Bayliss actually won races in GP and, might I add, never once qualified on the back row.

Won one race, in a one off appearance. Yes Bayliss did do a bit better in GP's than Toseland but he never rode a 800 which seems to be a bigger step for the superbike riders to make than the 990's. Toseland will be near the pointy end next year, how close? Well I guess we only have ~5 months to wait!

Toseland is no Bayliss. I think Haga might be finished too - he's had enough chances. Fabrizio, Rea and Crutchlow will be the ones to watch next year for my money. Pity that Biaggi lacks hunger these days - that Aprilia needs a charger on it.
Hate to say it, but told you that Haga would start crashing trying to stay with Spies. The resultant mid-season injuries ruined Haga's best shot at the title.

Normally I'd agree...but have you seen the clips os Stoner flat tracking the 800 at Phillip Island last weekend?

Only saw it on the telly aye, but his slides were very very progressive and he wasnt hamfisted IMO. he is a guy that is well ahead (& well aware) of his bikes attitude at any given moment, was a great display and you are a lucky bugger for seeing it in the flesh!
