OK Dellorto, why not buy a couple of front sprockets and try changing the gearing, cost about $15 per sprocket. Buckets run full circuits down here all the time, both Ruapuna and Levels and are a hoot to race on. From what I've heard Taupo is a great circuit for a bucket. And why would you race a GT250R in with the 150SS when there is a new ProLite 250 class especially for 250 twins?Sort a couple of sprockets, and try and race as many different tracks and circuits as you can do. The more track time you can do, the better.

Dellorto, other option may be to go and buy a SS150 machine, they come up from time to time on tardme far about the same price as a bucket and well less than I imagine you paid for your CBR.
Now I'm going to have a bit of a rant, but don't take it personanly I'm not trying to dis you in any way, just educate you a little.
The points I'd like to make are
1. Just becase you rode the GTR and liked it doesn't make any of the criticisms people have of them any more or less valid. They may be a fine bike but before jumping in and getting one I'd want to make damn sure none of the other options that will be able to run in the 250 twin class aren't going to be a better option in either performance or total cost of ownership terms.
2. There aint no cheap motorsports and until you actually get a job and start pating for everything yourself I doubt you'll realise just how true this is.
3. Motorcycle racing in NZ is not a particularly well funded exercise from a sponsorsship point of view either so before you go there I'd suggest you do a bit of research into what potential sponsors will want in return, that way you'll be able to give them what they need from the word go and you're more likely to have them for more than one season. Believe me, there aren't people queueing up to throw bikes and money at racers and looking for potential candidates.

Go apply for the Vic Club Scholarship, your young enough. There's very little applications each year. When i applied back in 07' There was no one else apart from a chick who quit half way thru the year and me. You get Free Entry's and get to use the bike. Put gas an oil in it and your set to go. Contact Billy or Ajturbo on here. Get your app in for next year now =).
I have to say it, but a decent clean RG150 (theres a big difference in power and handling between a good and bad RG150, most of the RG's are fucked these days) is going to be faster than a heavy GT250/R. The GT's have similar power down low, but wont be as quick when the RG get's going (as much as an RG can get going that is). With the same rider (One who can actually ride) on each of the bikes, they would clock a faster lap time on a RG150.
P.S Also that was one of Daniel Mettham's first times riding the RG150. He was riding the Club KR150 (quite different) during the winter. He beat Dan Plastid who isn't all that bad on his ZXR250. Good stuff.

ive looked at rg's and spoke to the australain lady who does the scholarships and he thinks id be good riding on a scholarship bike, ill get on to that, i do need something to ride in the summer right?

i helped pay for some of my expenses by flag marsheling on the saturday......and im intending on doing it often to pay for racing.....i dont mind working hard, its just not easy to find a job when your 14!
an rg150 might clock slightly faster but a gtr250 would be alot funner to ride......its hard to find a good rg150 these days also...

I could be wrong it might have been 14.6 RWHP, I have the dyno graph somewhere. I weigh 96kg but make up for it with good looks and none of this stylish hanging off in the corners, thats just aerodynamic drag.............

Why go all "Aww but I'm not winning I donwanna play anymore unless I can win". Get hard & ride faster. This may take some time. Took me years. Why do you think you will be better?
Bear in mind that in the all in races after the GP there were like 3 or 4 SS150s in front of Rob & I & a bunch behind. Nigel would have seen them all off easily.
Try holding onto a bike for a while & get used to what it can do.

You seem to end up in the same position of criticism a great deal on here! You may want to think about what you are saying and what kind of impression you are making. Even if you have great talent on a motorcycle, you will no go anywhere with it in this country with a bad attitude. The attitude that you display at the moment is one of "If I don't win it is my bikes fault and everything should be given to me because I am talented". That will never win you any supporters!
If you ever want to take road racing further in NZ you going to need either rich parents or support from outside sources (Sponsorship etc).
As a hint sponsorship pools in NZ road racing are small! So small in fact that some of NZ's best road racers are having to sit this years national season out! (Which is a huge shame)
One of the most important things sponsors will be looking for is attitude! Yes that is more than likely going to be more important to a sponsor than results, because a bad attitude can have a very negative effect on a company if word gets around.
As a side note, get some sprockets for your CBR125, it will be more than capable of keeping up with the FXR's with a little fella like you on it. Remember less weight is equivalent or even more of an advantage than more HP so like other have said, suck it up and keep working on riding faster!
