Wouldn't a dirty coon such as him feel a bit depressed going sight seeing in Paris... Seeing all of the evil white mans achievements while his kind were eating raw meat, living in grass huts.

I would think so and what is sad is that HH and his ilk are always at the forefront, nose in the trough and beating their chests.

One of my customers (back in the day) was a Maori fisherman, bloody good guy, neat family, extremely hard working. Was he getting rich off the quota? Like hell he was; the quota holder (who I believe were tribal elders but don't quote me on that) reaped plenty from his hard work and that of his family. It used to really piss me off. I don't know if he gave it away but he deserved better and I'd say his situation would be the tip of the iceberg.

And that was only a couple of hundred years ago. You could probably count the generations on a hillbillies hand. That's part of the problem; us filthy white folk have taken centuries to get where we are but you take a savage from the trees, drop him in downtown Wellington and look how they cope! Badly.

It will be interesting to see what the Human Rights Commission makes of this. The words complained of were in a private email. Not a public speech. Freedom of expression protects a lot of things we would ordinarily find offensive.

For example the words "dirty coon" appear in this thread. That is offensive but also freedom of expression. Would we expect KB to be prosecuted??

Here is a clip from the HRC:

"...The Commission stated that the offensiveness of a race-related comment is not sufficient on its own. The comment must also be a probable cause of ethnic hostility or contempt. The vast majority of comments that are complained about are unlikely to contribute to serious ethnic unrest."

Just to be clear, I find HH's comments deeply offensive especially coming from a member of parliament. He is a tosspot and I hope the Maori Party dump him. They have earned a lot of respect (to my surprise) and don't need this jerk.

Perhaps the objection is not to the denigration in itself but to the light it may shed on the principles of a person charged with representing the good of all New Zealanders.

It bears mentioning that MPs are not delegates for their own particular constituency. Although elected by a electorate they are supposed to conduct themselves for the good of the entire country
