Around coromandel would be a pretty good place for a break

So far options for bbq could be coromandel, onemana, or pauanui. Decision can be made closer to the date but be good to have info on them now!!!

Sod waiting until Coromandel Town. That's pretty much at the end of the Coro loop.

Assuming you're doing the loop anti-clockwise. Which is safer and more fun.

Hmmm anti-clockwise is actually quite nice ain't it, hadn't thought bout that. Well then... Where would you suggest if we were heading that way? I'm planning on not doing the bottom half (i.e. we'll head straight over to Kopu), as if we're going for a swim and chilling for a while we'll never get back by dark.

Heading over Kopu and then up through Tairua puts you at Coroglen bang on lunchtime.

If you guys are going clockwise, I'll do it anti-clockwise by myself. Less traffic going that way too.

Pauanui is just 45min from Kopu... So that'd be equivalent to getting to Coromandel if going the other way.

    Hmmm, damn logistics!

I'd love to find a bbq to use up around Whitianga that'd be perfecto.

Or seriously... If we're going anti-clockwise and leave about 9 or so, we could have the usual couple of quick stops for breaks and plan for near Coromandel by lunchtime and have a nice long break and swim + food, then finish with the trip back down the coast... Thoughts?

it also makes every right hander a blind one.

I'd rather the lefts be blind, when I'm out of the way of traffic cutting corners....

either way, what with a bbq, swim and coro loop you guys are going to be knackered - might be something to take into account before you all go planning some mammoth route

Yeah that's why I'm planning a half coro. A bbq and swim will be a better break then a short break at the pub I reckon I'll feel more refreshed and onto it when I jump back on the bike!

Oh yeah, didnt I hear from somewhere that Coro's going to be crawling with cops now? something about motorcyclists using it as a racetrack?

seriously, you can more than enough fun there without needing to break the limit or do anything excessively dangerous - these are nice tight twisties with the occasional open interlude.
